I want to spend around $200 on a vid card. It seems people are saying if I wait until Thanksgiving I could get a 9800np for around $200 or a 9600XT. Is the 9600XT good. THnks!

Yep...
Wait for the price of 9800np to drop...then you won't be disappointed...
Be sure to get either ATI or Sapphire 9800 np....
You can BIOS Flash it to a pro, then just overclock it even higher...
to reach XT speed. :)
Basically 9800 np, pro, XT uses the same core...
they all have the same potential. :)
Computer Maniac :)
Doubt the np will drop anytime soon since its discontinued :|
read the sharky tests
...or you could buy the ATI 9800 non-pro for $249 from Circuit City today.
If you happen to need another system in your home, you could buy a cheap Dell 4600 and upgrade from a GeforceMX to 9800np for $130!
i just got mine from circuit city today... what is the typical ram chips on a pro? my 9800 np has infineon 3.0ns chips... plus where would i go to get the bios, and what is the likelyhood that i will damage the longterm health of the card by flashing the bios?
Wow I haven't seen the 9800np for a long time...you guys are lucky!
send me 264, plus shipping and i can get you one... circuit city here still has two more... but i don't think the one i got is much for overclocking... i get MAJOR artifacting at 380/340, 380/320 is fine.. anything more and I am screwed. so maybe this one goes back to circuit city
