no
not really, but it is handy if you're paranoid. i had my computer behind a netgear router, and zonealarm was still stopping a few uninvited things.
With the help of zonealarm , i can see if a application tries the reach the net , and i can let it reach or stop it . Does this hw firewalls work with a software that helps monitoring them? How will i be able to watch the activities?
No you don't need a software firewall if you have a hardware firewall. Just don't worry about it if you have a firewall, you shouldn't get hacked into. I don't have a firewall and I actually did get hacked into once. Heh...I called up my ISP and asked if they would change my IP Address for me. They changed it and they accidentally put me in a different speed channel! :D I'm only supposed to be getting 256/90.
what did they do when they hacked into your system?Quote:

When you go wireless dsl, the security issue can become a bit more complicated due to possible exploitation of Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) tech and it's various security holes.
Wireless DSL??!?! Hurrah! Finally!
(can I get wireless cable instead?) :D
:p
<m[e]ntor> Does anyone know where I can buy 100 m of wireless lan cable?Quote:

<insight> Well, you could try NASA's "things not yet and never will be invented"-department or something.
