UDMA66 cable.......what end???

I have a computer that I upgraded.I put in a Abit BE6-2 mobo, but now I got a new hd,and I can't remeber what end of the cable to put into the mobo.
I know there is only one end to plug in, I have made a computer put I just can't remeber.I also know that bad things happen when pluging in the wrong end can do https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/6.gif

so could u give me a color(if there is a color)or something.....I hope it's something then color......I'm colored-blind.

Only ATA66 & 100 cable are color coded and require correct placement. IIRC blue is motherboard, black is master.

Right - the connector on the mobo is blue, and the end that connects there is also blue. The Master goes at the other end of the cable, and the Slave goes in the middle of the cable (both these are usually black).

Since most cables are keyed now its kinda hard to put them in upside-down (mismatch pins).

Could someone please explain why blue must be on the mobo and black on the master? It seems that if the pin-outs match on each end then it should work (like with other cable.)

What am I missing?

EDIT: I don't think both end are blue. You may have cables by a different manufacturer. A bad one as Quantum seems to think the cables are CSEL and two blue ends wouldn't help that.
