Just lettin' yall know. Also the first review of RTW. It got a 92%. There was also another game coming from the makers of UT, forgot the name tho. It's supposed to be geared all toward SP and looked pretty cool. Comments?

I just finised reading the article. I have a question/concern.
How does everyone here feel about it being built on the Doom3 engine? While it's a great engine I don't feel it's the most efficient. In the article they mentioned the same problem with multiplayer being limited to 8 peeps. I mean come on. Quake just isn't quake if you can't have an 8 on 8 death match.
Maybe it's just me though.
Sounds like Pariah, which looks like an awesome game.Quote:

pariah is done by digital extremes...not offically the developer of the ut series (which is epic) but they definately did their fair share of maps and models that came with the game...it is running on the ut2k4 engine though...
anyways I'm really looking forward to it...the doom 3 engine has it's strenths and weaknesses but I think it'll go well with quake 4...

No its not just you, thats ******** period. I enjoy a good 8 on 8 match bare minimum when its comes to Quake games. They better remodify the engine before they release Quake IV or its going to get criticized heavily by many major PC Gaming publications.
I fore one am still waiting for the military outlets to put the new issue on the shelf.
The Army... hurry up and wait.
I don't know the more I think about it the more I don't like the situation. I have a 9800 pro which does not really play D3 at a level that I feel comfortable with as far as quality and speed. I've been looking at upgrading to the new gen cards and if games are continually going to be based on the D3 engine I'm almost forced to go Nvidia. While I like ATI and the X800's are awesome cards the 6800's just own in OpenGL.
It's a shame Nvidia holds most of the patents on the standard and refuses to share them.
I don't like it at all.
all leagues are 4v4 TDM ladies, ctf maybe goes 5v5 ( euros only :> )
You won't need to worry about Q4 multiplayer. id is NOT going to release the game without making major changes to the multiplayer system. Otherwise, as stated above, Quake 4 is going to be heavily criticized.Quote:

Also, 512MB video cards should be available by the time the game is released. Looking forward to upgrading, ppl?
I don't mind upgrading so I can get better performance. I can't stand having to upgrade because I want the game to be playable. Especially when my hardware is only a little over a year old.Quote:

Well, didn't PC Gamer say Raven will probably work around the limitations?
hummm between quake4 and doom3 there such totally different games. (I know I know the game isnt out yet).. however, quake has traditionally been mulitplayer, extreamly fast paced, and blistering fast. How can you have a slow paced, deliberate engine do a fast paced mulitiplayer game?
Hope they have some tricks up their sleeves.. besides in a deathmatch.. who the heck is looking around at the purty walls??
Quake II was primarily single player, and story driven.
Quake III Arena was all multiplayer.
8 player sucks to put it blunt. I miss the days of Quake II 8 on 8 CTF, and Team Deathmatch, and Lithium Deathmatch. Ah sweet memories...
are there still a lot of people playing quake2? i think i might install it again...
