As the reigning contest winner, I'd like to kick off the voting thread with a heartfelt congrats to ALL of the entrants. A beautiful collection of cases and countless hours of pursuing our passion. This is art. The opinions are purely subjective, so if it looks beautiful to you, then that is all that matters.
NOTE: Project Redemption obviously didn't make it before the deadline. That's okay though. I prefer to slow it back down and get all of the little things put into the case so it is a product that could compete with these worthy opponents. I would have been forced to cut out some of the details I wanted to add in order to make it in on time. Stay tuned, it'll get done.
I guess I'll do this in the same format as the previous voting thread. I'll go one by one, and give you my choice at the end of the post.
TAZTG: I've said it before, the Fragbox is one of my all time favorite mods. People, check out the painting detail. That case was disassembled to the component level to get the parts to the finish color. The sleeving and wire management is excellent, and you have to appreciate things like the unique placement of the FC, front lighting, and DIY hand cutouts. Wow.
XP1800: You cannot deny the sexines of those Lian Li cases. The Sunbeam mod is flawless. The uniformity of the chrome and brushed aluminum screams 'professional'. The custom drilling on the side is difficult and dare I say, 'ballsy'. Maybe a little more sleeving? Sweet case. Wish I could afford one.:)
Rukee: Are you kidding me? That machine is off the friggin' hook! That thing is a dragster amongst street rods. I can truly appreciate the technical abilities of this machine. It just needs some more art, I feel. You were stingy with interior pics, but from what little I can see, maybe some more wire management? That rig is screaming for a custom paint job. You get the honorable mention for the rig that "could kick anybody's butt in a fight".
GaryUT: This is MY kind of rig. I LOVE the high contrast and especially LOVE the 'little' things that require the most time, and typically go unnoticed. You are a wizard at power distribution and have inspired many of my own ideas. CLEAN, CLEAN, CLEAN!!!!! Setting the drives back and utilizing light on the front leaves me speechless. Yellow is an uncommon color and really makes this project unique. The black exhaust and missing front fans kind of stick out. But the high contrast/unique color scheme and masterful wiring make this case one of my finalists.
boasist: Those new cases are awesome! The external W/C setup is integrated nicely. Looks like a whole bunch of work went into that. You've got some seriouis storage going on in there! Some wire management is needed though. A very powerful rig for sure! Those feet on the W/C enclosure are awesome!
schultz: By far the highest quality paint job in this group. The colors and high gloss are incredible! The window work is very unique as well, and looks very tight! I love the dragon and the shape of the window. No interior shopts, so I can't really say anything for that. Your sis is one lucky chick to be sportin' such a sexy rig. Great work on that paint job. I know you were one seriously sanding fool on that one!:)
nttdemented: OMG. You nailed the lighting and color combo on this rig. The HW list is awesome too. Excellent wire management and overall cleanliness. The off color drive needs attention, or a whole case paint job. Nice window, those curved shapes are tough, and that molding is tougher! Great looking case.
Adisharr: This case is what Completely Custom is about. The config and shape are truly unique. The level of detail required to construct such a creation is mind boggling. It is one thing to make a case from scratch, it is entirely another to include the full functionality of premade cases. I can't bow low enough to this rig. I'm not worthy! Another finalist for me.
My choices were narrowed in no particular order to TAZ, Gary, and Adisharr. In the spirit of what this contest and forum stand for I have to give my vote to:
Adisharr. Awesome job.
Wow Scooby. Great post you put up, I was honestly mooved by it. :)
After seing all the entrants I can only feel like a rookie amongst pros.
After browsing the page quickly to see what case caught my eye the most I have to give my vote to the mod that really made my eyes pop with how refreshingly impressive it was. Simple, clean and unexpectedly sexy, I have to give my vote to the Beige Box by GaryUT.
GaryUT
Awesome sleeving and colors thats we dont see often.
While I thought TazTG and Gary UT both had equally well done projects, Gary UT had a spark of completely refreshing retro originality that surpassed all the other cases.
Here's my nice long post, and try not to take some of my thoughts too harsh, I'm just voicing my opinion:)
TAZTG: Attention to detail, that's all I have to say. Your paintjob is by far the best I've ever seen. It reminds me of the Falcon Northwest cases, how even the paint is applied. Also, the TAZTG cutout is incredible, I've always liked that. However, I'm a minimalist, and I feel that the case has too much going on at some points. Also, I know it's hard with that many optical's, but I think the wiring could be a tad better.
Rukee: The insane hardware makes me feel like your case belongs on Xtremesystems instead of Sharkys. You rig could be killer if you spent even more time on the appearance. For example, how bout some heatshrinked wiring? ALso, the LL kit on the bottom sticks out like a sore thumb, even though it houses a Vapochill:)
GaryUT: Just like TAZTG, I really like the attention to detail you put in to this case. The overall theme is refreshing when put up against the everyday case loaded with windows, ccfl's, and LED's out the arse. Also, your PSU mod is great, and I think you should have capitalized on that idea, because after I saw yours, it seems like sites started to sell PSU's already modded like that:) The only think I don't like (and I really had to be picky to find this!) was the flames on the PSU. I'm not a flame guy:(
boasist: Very nice case, I'm glad someone entered one of these. I've been curious to see them loaded up with hardware for a bit. Nice work on housing the water cooling setup, also I like how the wheels are still used on the bottom:) However, I think you should have spent more time with the wiring, it's all over the place man! And, how about something to cover up the mismatched A2 drive?
schultz: Excellent job on the paint, it looks wonderful. Also, I'll give you props for using colors that we don't normally see. The stealthed CD drives look good as well. I'd like to see some closer shots of the case, to show off that paint some more. Also, the window and etching turned out really nice, but you should show the wiring inside, unless you're trying to hide it:) Overall though, excellent work.
nttdemented: I think what you have here is a great start. This mod looks like its in it's younger stages. Maybe some paint, a custom faceplate for the Nexus, and some dremeling of the rear fan grilles are in order? I really like the color choices though, and although they aren't all the same, your case still comes off as being very cleanly done, which I like.
Adisharr: I like this one even better than your table mod, and I think the black faceplace looks really nice. You built this thing from the ground up, unlike the (no offense guys) pre-built cases we all chose to mod. Nothing more needs to be said...
My vote is going to Adisharr for the exact same reasons GLScooby mentioned. This is creativity and talent at it's best, keep the projects coming Adisharr!
I vote Adisharr. He deserves the prize because he made the case and that folks ain't easy, on top of that, the workmanship isn't half-bad.
Depending on what you are looking for, best mod, or best custom case, my vote changes.
Best Mod: I would vote for GaryUT hands down. I think you did an awesome job with keeping the wiring clean. Oh so very clean! :D
Best Completely Custom: Adisharr. It wasn't even just the design and shape of the case, but the little details you did like muting your case lights with hard drive wrappers. That's what it's all about, innovation and experimentation.
So, since this is a Completely Custom competition (According to the entries thread) I give my vote to Adisharr.
To GaryUT, you have some of the cleanest wiring I've ever seen. My hat's off to you and all the other people who put entries into the competition. Hopefully someday I'll create something on the level that you guys have done.
*Edit: Btw, are people who didn't enter allowed to vote?
hey, tough crowd. I should have put a dress on mine. :o
I vote for mine, you guys have no idea what it takes to get three phase-change coolers into one machine and make it work. :p
I would like to first thank everyone who submitted their cases to help round out the Contest.
There is something to like in all the entries and for that I give everyone a ThumbsUp..
I have a problem in selecting a winner. Its a Tie Vote between
GaryUT & Adisharr.
GaryUT: Paint Job, Wiring, PowerSupply, Lighting, all add up to one of the Best Multi/MODS I have seen. I understand how hard painting can be and you seem to have nailed it down. Your Wiring and PS MOD is what we all should strive to achieve. Great Case all Around!!
Adisharr Your skills never cease to amaze me. The creativity and ingenuity you put into this project gives everyone who MODS crazy Ideas. I have to admit when I walk through stores and see a Jewelery Box or Old Style Phono Graph, I say hmmm thats Moddable. You have taken it a step further and created a Box from Scratch. I liked your previous Table MOD and this one is just as great!!
:) :)
So we got two winners then?
Rant: WAAHH!!! Nobody voted for mine!!! *pounds the ground*
Naw just kidding. Got some really good criticism. That'll push me to really finish my mod as I do have some extra ideas. Maybe I'll have it done by the time the next contest comes around. Heck, I might have a different case but the pain job scheme is in my head, just that my painting skills blow and I'm gonna resort to paying a friend from an Auto Body shop to paint it. ($250) The paint job thats in my head would be green on the front half of the case blending into black and the inside of the case in orange. Gonna apply the paint to the front drive bays also.
At least I got good complements on my sleaving and wiring job, wich was my first try at it, so I'm proud of that, and I do believe I inovated a bit with the lighting scheme.
I can feel the little modder in me screaming with joy!! :D
Yay! Thanks guys for all the kind words and support. I'd also congratulate GaryUT for his very  mod :)
Now how do we split the money? omghahahahahah!!!lolol11111
:D
Well darn. I was away and I missed the voting! Oh well. Congratulations go out to Adisharr and GaryUT! We had some awesome mods here!
Oh, and thanks for those that commented on mine (GLScooby, XP1800). :)
