Does one last more (in use) than the other?
Hey I currently own a dell lat d600 and love it! I hear that the business lappys are built better then the home use ones. Also the tech support and so on with the lattitude is also much better. Ive had no problems with my lappy for an entire year but now im gettin some slow down issue but other then that im happy with it! I was also able to get a discount thru my college to get a dell so thats also a plus!

This man has it. The Latitudes are their business laptops and thus get business support lines. The Latitudes also keep their upgradeability lifespans for much longer so you can easily buy replacement cd drives and whatnot.Quote:

From a business perspective the Latitude is much nicer but for home users there's not much difference. I'd only buy a Latitude if it were me though.

agreed. latitude is the only way to go.
I plan to buy a laptop, in 8 months or so. So Latitude it is.
Because Latitude are only avaialble for Small Business, what speacial procedure do I have to do to order one?

Seriously. That's really all.
That's good to know! I've had a couple Latitudes through work that I've really liked. When my dad needed a laptop, we ended up settling for the Inspiron - and it isn't nearly as good. It's loud and slow, and just not as nice.Quote:

while the latitudes are sometimes built better, there isnt a huge difference, and the inspirons can usually be purchases on sale significantly cheaper than a latitude. I have an inspiron 600m, while my dad has a latitude d600 and they're barely different. His has a little bit stronger case (still plastic) and theres one of the thumb joystick pads in addition to the touchpad. If they're the same price definitly go for the latitude, but its not worth spending any extra money on. Any inspiron will hold up fine, and use the same parts as the latitudes.
