And I just saw your price range. So your best bet would definitely be HK imho. The make some of the best entry level receivers. Look into the HK AVR235.
Good to hear. I actually was looking at the HK AVR430 that my boss is trying to get rid of. I played with it for about an hour today at work. It is hooked up to a box that let me switch it through about 5 sets of speakers, with the JBL's that I listed above being my favorites. The price on the HK 430 right now is at $499, but my boss leaned in and said "I'll cut you a deal like you wouldn't believe. You'll never see a price like this again." So I'll be haggling to see if I can get that receiver and 2 pair of speakers for around $500 or so. We'll see.
