Hardware choices for my new custom case
Wow, it's been a while since I've posted in General Hardware. Of course I had to come back to make the hardware choices for my new system, this is my home after all. So here I am, perhaps my final pilgrimage for hardware selection, perhaps not.
I've been hard at work on my new case for the last few months, it has to be done in a month to be ready to ship out to college with me. There's a pretty big worklog for the whole thing over at bit-tech: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=89645
Here's a pic of what it currently looks like for those that don't want to sift through my log:

It has come time to make the final hardware selection so I can start planning around the actual parts instead of mockups. I already have an Antec Neopower but nothing else. The system will be primarilly used for gaming and CAD work. I'm looking to spend something on the order of $1200 on everything with maybe an LCD monitor added on top of that but don't have any problem with spending less. I'm not going to be overclocking.
I'd really like to do a dual core system so that pretty much limits me to Intel since AMD doesn't sell one at a non-insane price. I'm going to need tons of hard disk space (you know, for...stuff), RAID 5 would be something cool to do for some redundancy. At least 1GB of RAM is pretty obvious. I only have room for one removable media drive so its going to have to do the works.
I'm going to be living in dorm so I'm kind of torn about bringing my old faithful monitor. It's been with me for such a long time and I'd hate to see it go but I just don't know whether it will fit. It's a 21" Sony Trinitron weighing in at about 60lb. For all I know it might fit right in, otherwise I'd have to go with something like a 2001FP.
I've been out of the hardware game for a long time. I don't even know where to begin with choosing a mobo so help me out guys.
