Dell Inspiron 6000, which screen?

Anyone have some comments on experiences with the different screens, would want to know which would be the best.

WXGA
WSXGA+
WUXGA

I will do mainly some web designing, coding and basic office work.

What are the supported resolutions of each?

1280x800
1680x1050
1920x1200

I was hoping that someone who had worked on any of these, specificly on the Dell, could give some input. I heard a lot of complaints of sparkling, or something of the sort. Was wandering if that was only on specific resolutions, and did they sort this out? I remember something about changing from a Samsung to a LG screen? dunno.

Is 1920x1200 a bit hectic for a 15,4" widescreen?

depends on you and your eyes. Most people complain about my setting that I use 1680 x 1050, they can't see anything

Those are the supported external monitor resolutions, not the LCD resolutions.

The Dell website explains each LCD style.

Get the WUXGA, with whatever screen enhancements they might offer (Ultrasharp, TrueLife, etc). Your laptop screen is something you will interact with every time you use your laptop. A few more pennies up front will result in a much better laptop experience.

BTW, on a completely unrelated topic, I'm getting 1.05 MegaBYTES/sec download speed on the AOE3 demo! Go cable!

I stand corrected. I'd thing the 1920x1200 would be very difficult on which to view text.

I see your point about the text, thats mainly why I want to hear about what people have experienced with this screen. Ive seen a Sony VAIO 14.1" widescreen running at 1440xsomething else, there the text were ok, but I wonder how one could compare if you make a jump to a bigger screen and resolution? Difficult choices! It's sad that one can't go and look at this laptop at a shop, to see al these variables.

Dell has a liberal return policy, especially if you a) purchase through the Small Business group and b) spend at least as much or more money on a replacement product.

In the past I purchased 4 Latitude notebooks from Dell where the screen was not acceptable. I was able to return/replace them with a model with a better lcd.

i would personally get the WUXGA because i like high pixel density.. but some people think i have freakish eye vision

WSXGA is the most popular....

IMHO WXGA is a waste on a 15" screen

Depends, I run 1920x1200 on both my 15.4 inch and 17 inch laptops and I have no problems reading it at all, the advantage of such a high resolution is that every is very sharp and crisp. I don't like using lower resolutions, it's great to get so much screenspace on a physically small panel. People say it's a matter of eyesight but my Mum, who needs reading glasses for text actually prefers my 15.4 inch WUXGA screen to her 15 inch XGA screen.

It's really an individual preference, as ua549 has said Dell tend to be very good for exchanging parts, as kpxgq has said, the WSXGA screen is popular because it's a good balance.

So it would be best to go with the WUXGA and then swap if it is overkill? Think I'll do that.

Does anyone know what happened concerning the sparkling problems of the Dell screens?

I would go for the top screen, after i got my 9300 with the top screen i was very pleased with it.

The 'sparkling' issue was only with the 17 inch WUXGA glossy screens, not the 15.5 inch screens, from what I've seen of it, it was blown out of proportion.
