9700 pro resolution question

I am looking at a 20 inch viewsonic that runs a 1400x1050 resolution. I looked at the settings for my 9700pro and it was not listed. I havent updated drivers on this in forever- would the new drivers offer that resolution? My system works fine although getting a little long of tooth. I can do everything i need to do although I am considering a system upgrade just to run my 3D editing program. It is a limited application program that cost a lot more than it should and waiting for redraws or loads can take 30-50 seconds. Without a pci-e MB what would be the best AGP alternative for my system if i choose this monitor. A few years ago my mobile AMD Athlon overclock would have been an impressive number but I have been chasing a dollar for a while and been out of the loop so I have little idea what has been going on. If you have a LCD suggestion - let me know. I picked this one because the price/picture-quality seemed pretty good and will have slightly larger fonts and other things that will go easy on my old eyes . (yes- I know how to change all the fonts and icon sizes even if I am probably the oldest poster here) Stared serious overclocking with the P300 to 450 and then came the magic celeron which everyone loved - free speed at greatly reduced prices even without my senior citzen discount. How many of you folks ever seriously used an XT? (most of you wont know what it is)

I just bought a Viewsonic VA 1912wb from newegg. It's a 19" widescreen LCD and a beauty.

I have used and own a XT (8088 without a coprocessor :P) My first overclock PC was a 486 DX2 66. I may not have a senior citizen discount yet, but give me another 25 years :)

You would have to load your LCD drivers to get the proper resolution. The 1400x1050 is a Widescreen resolution. Are you using the Analog (25 pin connector) or the DVI connection on the 9700Pro?

As long as the monitor is DDC/CI compliant, he shouldn't need to load the INF file for the monitor.

You know I still add the LCD drivers incase there are any color profiles that will load with it ;)

Thanks for all the thoughtful and kind replies. 1400x1050 is not a wide screen resolution on this monitor. I thought it was also. Must have large pixels but the Cnet review was very kind and even pointed this out. They just said the picture was great in spite of this
