After updating your bios there is an option to calculate a new checksum.
its brand new, i have never even got to the windows load screen.
note: i did a search on biostar and this error, and all the threads i read came up with nothing, and whats funnier is the authors of the threads HAD the SAME board!! the people ended up returning them after tons of effort. i am gonna return mine and try it again. this is what i get for buying a cheap board :( its for my dads comp that crashed.
any other ideas tho? i thought maybe processor, but in the beginning i see that its recognized, so i assume its fine. seems fine anyway.
If you boot into the bios there is an option to save changes and recalculate the chekcum on virtually every machine I've ever used.
is your keyboard usb by any chance?
not usb, and i cant get to the bios because it happens RIGHT b4 that. i CANT click any button fast enough. i ve tried. i got the new board, im gonna try it out now.
omg still no luck... its says
"warning cpu has been changed"
"please re-enter cpu settings in the cmos setup and remember to save changes!"
Unusual, Biostar boards are quite good.
I'd recommend a return. This is one BIOS problem thats too much of a hassle. Could you give us a model number if you want us to dig up a little more ? :)
This could be solved by a little bios update.
i gave up on biostar. i went to my reliable asus and got a sempron for it. its for my dad so its plenty, plus its all up to date now.
Im using an abit av8 board w/ amd 3200+ 64bit cpu...But I have a USB keyboard and I am getting the same error now (just started today). What could it be??
If you kept getting this error after you have already done above suggestions, take the board back and get a new one.
Well the strange thing is that I no longer get the error, BUT my USB joystick is very slow to respond when I try to play a few different games (So its either the joystick drivers or the motherboard/usb stuff) :(.
I have also had my motherboard for nearly a year now with no issues till this morning - out of the blue.
Alright, so I finally just flashed my bios via windows (abit mobo) and that didnt work...still had the checksum error.
So I then flashed it via diskdrive (had to get the disk from my roommate), and it "sort of" fixed my problem. Now my joystick doesnt lag in games, but my ps2 port doesnt work anymore for my mouse (weird). SO I now have a usb mouse and occasionally my programs dont load on start up and the pc will freeze in windows...I think its time for a new mobo :(
So you are putting old parts from a computer that died onto a new motherboard? Ever thing there is something else bad in the system? Sounds like it if you've gone through 3 boards so far.
at some piont you have to ask yourself if the beating of your head against the wall is worth the hassle, if you have had three boards and the SAME problem, i would be leaning towards another component, however, it seems different boards have given different errors, that would/may indicate a motherboard problem....
had many other types of boards, never had a biostar, guess it will stay on the untried list....
bummer on your problems...
