And to celebrate today, I will leave my R51 off for the day. It deserves the break ;)

About two days ago my T42 stopped POSTing, but the CPU fan and hard drive would spin up. After a couple of power cycles, it worked fine.
Today, it did the same thing, but I couldn't get it to start after about ten tries. Tech support was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and spoke English. A DHL box will be waiting for me on Tuesday at their expense. I was blown away with the service.
15 years doesn't surprise me.
*celebrates Thinkpad tech support*
It's superioer to any customer support system I've ever experienced at any point. Plus, it's done in the US, still!
The last I knew, when I was doing field service for them a few years back, only one of their three call centers was in the U.S. The call centers were in Raleigh, NC, Toronto, and Dublin, Ireland.Quote:

At least all three speak English fluently.Quote:

Are lenevo still going to produce the thinkpad or discontinue it out of interest?
Yes. They appear to be genuinely committed to at least keeping the name around. Only time will tell if they maintain the quality -- the T60 seems to be good from what I've been hearing, though the wide-screen makes it seem like they may be changing their targetting a bit. If the business customer is no longer such the focus as it has been mostly in the past, I'd estimate a decrease in quality.Quote:
