Can someone help me? :) Need to get rid of NOISE!!

Okay I am sure I have the lowest class system compared to most of you but I still would like some help.
I have a Sony Receiver with DTS/DD plus Sony Speakers. I have a Sony DVD player. Aswell as a Sony Vega Television. The stuff is not top-of-the-line but it is okay. Here is my problem:
I am trying to hook up my computer to my receiver to listen to MP3's. I am using monster cable for all my connections. When I hook up the cable from the computer to the Receiver I get A LOT of background noise. I had this happen with a friends set-up (AIWA Receiver) and we found out that it was the Coax Cable for the cable TV box. So I unplugged the Coax Cable and the noise stops. So I figure that the noise is between the Coax Cable and the Computer cable. But... I can plug in the Coax Cable to my TV for Cable TV and Unplug the The S-Video Cable from the TV and the DVD player and the noise goes away again. Plus I also have to leave the Audio connections from the TV to my Receiver unplugged when I am using the Coax Cable, but can leave them in when using the S-Video for my DVD. I really, really, really do not want to unplug the S-Video cable everytime I want to use the Speakers for my computer.
Anyone have any suggestions?? I imagine that this has happened to others as this has happened to me and my friend.

I presume you are using the best shielded cables you can get for all the connections. You may want to inquire at a local Radio Shack about additional shielding materials.

Try to keep the cables physically away from each other as much as possible. Coax is pretty well shielded. I am surprised you would be getting interference from it.

I agree. Shielded cables are the best way to go. Try (temp as a test) wrap your patch cord in aluminum foil to see if it goes away.If it does not, look for a loose ground.
On the patch cords slightly (very slightly) sqaush the outer most part of the connecter so it makes good contact.

Hey, I noticed that you have a Live! card. Do you also have the Digital I/O card? If you do, and your receiver can take a digital input (coax), you can simply hook it up with a good quality RCA cable from the SPDIF out on your LIVE! to your DSP, or directly to your receiver if it has built-in digital decoding - You dont need to go spending big bucks on that overly-priced monster cable ****. Im doing this with my computer and receiver, and dont get any noise, since it's all digital. One thing you have to worry about though is the level settings in winamp (or whatever you're using) arent too high - Otherwise, you'll get distortion and clipping.

If u are plugging in the computer and reciever in to two different recepticals and these recepticals are on a different circuit this can cause a loop back effect and create alot of distortion.

Went to Radio Shack and bought a Ground Loop Isolation Cable, cost $15 bucks and it worked GREAT https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif
