Newbi question here.
I recently built the computer that is in my sig. I ran CPU-Z, and I am not sure if I understand what it is telling me.
Core speed: 1230.3 MHz
Multiplier: X 9.0
Bus speed: 136.7 MHz
QPI link: 2460.5 MHz
Is my QPI link my speed? 2 (multiplier)(bus speed)
QPI is used to connect the processor to the IO Hub (e.g., to connect an Intel Core i7 to an X58 or P/H55 chipset). QPI operates at a clock rate of either 2.4 GHz, 2.93 GHz or 3.2 GHz based on the capability of the CPU / mobo. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Q...h_Interconnect
Please recommend a cooler for this processor.
I have same cpu and the cooler I use, to my very pleasant surprise, and true to the reviews I read, excellent. I idle 1c over ambient and 68c @ 4.0 Prime95 stable. Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus, OCZ Freeze thermal compound, and dual fans.Quote:

I bought the coolermaster Hyper 212 plus and installed it today. It is amazing.
Stock cooler: 3.15 Ghz, prime 95 tested and max temperature 86°C
Hyper 212 plus: 3.46 Ghz, prime 95 tested and max temperature 57°C
I can overclock farther and run cooler.
Seems you have done a good job mounting it, that's a great temp considering your OC! I'm still amazed at how well that little $30 HSF works -- truly outstanding!Quote:
