Vista yes
Yep, did a platform update for my Vista rig and it's now able to run DX11, if only I had a DX11 card in it....stuck with a 9600GT.
Um yeah, I am not feeling sorry for you:)
One thing that never usually fails is most Windows Operating systems seemed to support two DirectX versions before you need to upgrade the OS. Windows XP DirectX 8/9, Vista 10/11, Windows 7 11/12/13 (maybe?).
Maybe I am too intoxicated and sit this one out but I was thinking about this the other day.
Now if we only get some games that support DX11....
(Yeah, Dirt 2 ---)
DirectX 11 will honestly probably be big, just not for awhile. I'd wager that the next generation of console hardware from Microsoft will conform to DX11 and will be released at the end of 2012. They'll have the hardware finalized a long time before that though.
That means we'll be playing DX11 games until like 2017, most likely. I mean, games will come along with DX12/DX13 'features' but we all know how that is. Unless game engines start being run in software on the GPU, then all bets are off.
