Puzzling Problem

Ok I have a desktop system and a laptop,which I use often.

Here is the problem:
Both laptop and desk,have similar bookmarks yet there are 3 sites bookmarked on laptop that won't come up anymore.

The sites are:Facebook,Gmail,Yahoo mail.
All other bookmarks come up on lappy,except for these 3.

You didn't specify the error you were getting. Was it a 404? If you were not going through the front door to the site, the links in the bookmarks could be outdated. Delete them and re-add them or edit the link. You can also paste the link into the address bar to validate it.

I did not get an error #,all it says is unable to display page.

That's either a 501 or 505 error.
Do you have friendly HTTP error messages enabled? Disable it in IE advanced options.
Do you have HTTP 1.1 enabled? Disable it in IE advanced options.
You may also wish to start IE with no add-ons. Either click a shortcut on the start menu or enter about:NoAdd-ons in the address bar. Then try the failing bookmarks.

Error 501 (HTTP 501 - Not Implemented) means that the website you're visiting is not set up to display the content your browser is requesting.

Error 505 (HTTP 505 - Version Not Supported) means the website does not support the version of the HTTP protocol your browser uses (HTTP/1.1 being the most common) to request the webpage.

These errors might occur if you have HTTP 1.1 enabled. To disable HTTP 1.1, click the Tools button, click Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab. Under Settings, scroll down to the HTTP 1.1 settings section, and then clear the check boxes for Use HTTP 1.1. These errors might also occur if a third-party product is interfering with Internet Explorer. Try closing all programs and then attempt to access the webpage again.

I did what you said,did not work.I tried typing in the url myself and it still comes up blank.

Update:I also reset all security settings in advanced,to default and no good.

It isn't related to it being a bookmark. What is the URL? If you don't want it public, send me a PM.

I tried all 3 sites on the original drive that came with the lappy,and all 3 work fine.

You indicated that when you typed the URL's they also failed. Both of the sites you posted worked OK for me after I unscrambled them. I got logon pages.

I really don't know,how to proceed. :confused:

Can you ping those sites? How about a tracert?
Has your hosts file been tampered with?

Could the firewall, have something to do with it?

Sure, try turning it off for a test.

I would change the bookmarks to mail.yahoo.com, mail.google.com. unless it's a personal email like I've setup on roundcube. the mail.domain.com seems to work everytime on every computer (PC and MAC)

Well I removed the firewall completely,no good.
Looks like I might have to do a reinstall.I hate those.

Have you tried using a different browser or using an ordinary email client such as Outlook.
A reinstall seems to be overkill. You should first do an sfc /verifyonly and if any issues arise do an an sfc /scannow.
