I do agree with them.
Only the extra DLC makes me mad.
I also hate the idea that you get different gameplay content depending on where you buy the game from and how much you pay. If I pick up a game at a local store, I shouldn't have to go online first to check whether or not I'm getting a gimped edition.
Remember when it was normal for games to come with paper maps of their game world? For many games I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars extra for something like that. That kind of thing is actual added value, instead of having a slice of the game cut out and sold back to me.
That B52 bomber or whatever plane in the splinter cell package looks BA. probably $300 too lol
$170. I agree, it looks badass as hell. http://www.gamestop.com/xbox-360/gam...edition/107740
Or the cardboard/color coded keyboard overlays?Quote:

Now this is stupid.

Metro 2033 is a game I really enjoyed. It was a very atmospheric and tense experience playing as Artyom in post apocalyptic Moscow. I played the game on Normal difficulty but there was also a Ranger Mode I was tempted to try. Ranger Mode removes the HUD, gives you less ammo and supplies and makes encounters with enemies more deadly. Essentially a much harder difficulty.
In 2033 this mode was included. However now it is a pre order bonus for Metro: Last Light. A difficulty setting which removes items from the game is now an extra.
I understand publishers have pre-order DLC nowadays as an incentive or part of a publishing deal, usually in the form of an exclusive gun or something else to give a certain edge. Metro Last Light has these with the exclusive weapon of the Russian ASKU and 100 military round grades. Both of these give an advantage in game. As far as I can tell the pre-order bonus was met. Removing a mode and then selling at an extra charge is ludicrous.
Personally I was really looking forward to Last Light but I just can’t support such a DLC move. Bonus missions and bonus guns, fine, as long as they don’t form a key part of the story. But to remove a difficulty setting and then charge for it? That has to be a new low when it comes to pre-orders and DLC.
DLC being "removed content" instead of "added content" is not an insignificant part of why I rarely play any of the big name games anymore.
Just played through Bioshock: Infinite and I'm going to play through Tomb Raider soon but before that the only big name game I picked up anywhere near launch was Diablo III a few days shy of a full year ago, which I caved on buying just before it was released and which I wish I hadn't picked up.
Before that I have to go all the way back to January 2011 and LittleBigPlanet 2 to find a big name game I bought near release.
::edit::
Also got Borderlands 2 in September 2012. Overlooked that earlier.
The only collectors/special edition I ever thought about buying was for WoW, and that was because of addition :)
Really, most games I would want the collector's edition *after* I played the game and found I really liked it. Changing game content should be a no-no, but not surprising based on how soulless the industry has become.
And speaking of overlays, who remembers these:
