You said a few weeks ago you would check into this ASUS "I don't give crap about the customer" attitude. Well, what is the status on this. There's a post where a guy claims he is going to kill himself if he can't fix this problem with his asus card. And of course ASUS has not helped at all. Now,I noticed on the Video card shoot out you guys didn't say one thing about this problem with ASUS. I think you guys are great but I havn't seen you guys go out on a limb and really expose any company problems so the next person won't get screwed. If you're not into that fine. Hey, I understand we all gotta eat so don't take it the wrong way.

OK, so I finally got a response from ASUS, although it likley won't thrill any of you.

If you have any problems, you can call 510-739-3777 ext 5103 for help. That's it. I can't say I'm completely satisfied with this response either, so hopefully I can come up with something better. Are there any specific problems that many people are having? It might be easier to address this issue on a per-incident basis.

i was reluctant to register, but i think i need to response to this post.

i,too, had a hard time reaching asus tech support. after a week of no response to my email, i decided to call their tech support, and with frustration, i ended up rudely hung up on the tech guy. they are either dont know what they are talking about; they re not trying to be helpful; they re overworked; or they are underpaid. their technical website http://www.asusnetq.com.tw is usually slow, and often down. there are so many unanswering posts for help on that site.

but anyway, for what its worth, i have registered asususers.com and asus-users.com. i ll try to build a website for asus users to get help and to provide help.

Thai that's great to hear. I know, believe me I know how the silicon powers can come down on you. But, you're doing the right thing by coming forward and telling people your story. The word must get out so people know they are on their own most of the time when purchasing an ASUS product. I have already given my PERSONAL opinions about ASUS so there is no need to get into it again. Thanks for posting your thoughts and building a site for the MANY ASUS customers who need help.

I purchased my Asus v7700 from atacom.com, after receiving the card, I installed it onto my Windows ME box using the nVidia reference drivers. When playing 3d games, the monitor would simply die. CTRL+ALT+DEL was non-responsive, as was ESC, ESC, ESC, etc. The only way to get my monitor back up was to let it get signal from the card again, and that was to hit the reset button.

I tried several recent versions of the Asus drivers and the nVidia drivers, all had the same problem. I did install and uninstall the drivers properly. I then started experimenting with some BIOS settings, I found that if I dropped the AGP apperature size to 16MB, the games would not freeze, but performance is very slow. A side note, their are no IRQ issues on my machine, they are all unique.

Thinking it may be a WinME issue, I FDISK'd and installed Windows 2000 Professional. I installed the Asus drivers from their web site, the problem was still there. I tried several versions of the nVidia drivers and the 3.84e drivers from the Asus site, same problem. I dropped my AGP apperature size down to 16MB again (from 64MB) and it didn't help, same problem. Apparently it's something with Win2k or the drivers for the card and Win2k.

I then read a newsgroup posting in the nVidia news group about a guy having problems in a Win9x platform with anything above 5.13. I figured I give that a try. So I bumped my AGP appeture size back up to 64MB, installed the 5.13 drivers and it worked. Not very polished and featureless, but they worked.

Wanting the best from my $250+ card, I FDISK'd again and went back to my Win98 OS using the latest nVidia drivers.. same problem, 3D games cause my monitor to die out.

I've now resided to the fact that I must purchase a new motherboard, since it would be very costly for me to return my card.

If I could do it all over again, I would not. I have tried emailing Asus and received no reply. This too concerns me. Do they not realize that we're regular people who don't have loads of money laying around, so when we spend great amounts of money on their product, the least they could do is assist us? It's bad when someone in an eGroup (Jerry) must take it upon himself to try and troubleshoot a product line for a company that should be staffed to do such a job?

Ford now has to recall several of their vehicles, do they charge shipping and a restocking fee?
