just ordered kt7a....sold a7v, worth the hassle?

I've had the a7v for 2 mos now, and tried everything to up the fsb..it seemed impossible, was running my 900 tbird @ 10x100,my friend was looking to get one so I unloaded it on him for a good price https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif I ran right to pricewatch, then ordered the kt7a raid, should be here in a couple of days...now should I be able to get the that fsb up to 145x7.5? I want to see that fop38 really get to work.. https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/08/2.gif

also running crucial 133@144 2-2-2
and radeon 64 ddr, just incase anyone asked..

I have the same mobo and it works fine at 133 mhz FSB with a stock HSF. With your FOP-38 you should be able to hit 145 with little hassle. I'm just waiting for the necessairy funds to get my FOP-38, and some other cooling gear for that matter.

Is a good choice you choosed there... I have the same mother board and runs great and stable. One thing you should keep in mind is get good quality memory if you want to overclock using FSB. I currently have my FSB at 133mhz and it run 100% stable after games or just plain surfing. Have fun!

I made the same decision you made. Had a A7V and craved more and got a KT7a, but it has not helped out much more except higher fsb. I could run the ASUS at 109x12 (I had a 1.2 to begin) stable, or about 1.3. But with my KT7a, I can do 1312x10, 1.31, 10 Mhz faster and that seems to be the chips limit. So if yo have a good chip then it will be fun to have, but if the chip maxes out early, then it almost makes more sense to keep the ASUS. Although I will say I see a small difference in speed with the fsb increse.

You should be able to get that 900 to better than 1000 with the FOP38 and the KT7a. I wouldn't be surprised if you hit 1100 with it. The multiplier, voltage, and fsb are so easy to set. Have fun with it.

I thought about that..I posted a few times around here trying to figure out why I couldn't get that tbird up higher than 1050, most people said the chip could be maxed out..that would be a bummer http://dev.www.sharkyforums.forums.relay.cool/ but if the chip maxes out at 1050, I should atleast be able to up the fsb to 140x7.5 and get a performance increase over the a7v..
