Are you useing a CPU probe for the Temp? or just the on board sensor.
Programs like Sandra are not correct nor is MB monitor, with the BX6R2.

well this is not off of my mobo, this is off an ASUS P3B-F MOBO using an 850 mghz p3 and its internal temp censor reading the temp from the bios.

That is somewhat warm. You may want to invest in a case fan.
Seriously though, the magic smoke would escape from your processor well before it reaches such a temperaure. If you do see such a temp, it is being misreported, or you need glasses.

Lockup and your CPU will become unstable in probadly the 130F range, or so. The auto shutdown feature on the Intel CPU is somewhere in the 200F range, if I recall correctly.Quote:

MY HS WAS COCKED TO ONE SIDE BECAUSE ONE OF ITS PINS GAVE WAY.... SO I SLAPPED FRIGGEN ARTIC SILVER ON IT, FIXED THE PIN..and its down to 56 or 59 degrees CELCIUS.

AMD says their CPU's can only handle up to 90 C, and people say the CPU's can't even handle temps that high. I know you have an Intel processor, but I heard it had similar limits.
So, either your CPU is dead, or you were lying.
Here's my forumla for converting F to C. This is from my memory...correct me if I'm wrong:
(f-32)(5/9)=c
f = Temp in farenheight
c = Temp in Celcius

obviously my readings were wrong!!!!!!!!! thats what IT WAS SAYING! I am not lying.. it did say that, and obvioiusly is wrong.. BUT... it now says 56 degrees celcius so .. all is well.
