Hey, gotta a couple quick questions.
I have an Asus A7V and PC133 RAM, when I try to change the DRAM freq. in the bios it won't let me boot into windows. Am I doing something wrong here?
I also have a V5 5500, it SiSoft Sandra it shows it running at 2x, although in the bios it shows as "Auto-Detect" 4x, I though the V5 was a 4x Vid Card.

If you overclock the DRAM frequency over the rated speed, you might have lockups.
Voodoo5 is a 2x board, but it's compatible with 4x motherboard.

It wouldn't be OCing it though would it? I mean the RAM is supposed to be PC133 but when I select DRAM-133 it looks up right when I get to windows.
Here is the thing, I have two 128mb sticks (one I just got, a generic. and one a Corsair chip). Now if I put just one of them in and set the bios at PC133 it boots up fine, but when I put both in it does not...hmmm.

I think that the a7v does not run a 133 fsb. make sure your ram freq and bus freq are not the same in that case.
Your RAM may not be rated at 133. Check in SiSoft Sandra under Mainboard information to see what each stick of RAM is rated at. The A7V requires good RAM and will lock up randomly with many types of "generic" RAM.

I think UT_Dominator is rightthe AV7 has a 200Mhz. FSB In which case you'll want to run your memory a HSTCLK+33. The generic stick is probably the problem.

I'm slow,but not accurate.
Run the memory at 133 and the bus will be at 100ddr. The only, that i've found, to run the fsb at 133ddr is to use the jumpers and mine wouldn't boot. It sounds like one of your sticks is not pc-133, like panther said, go into sisoft sandra under mainboard information and it should verify your memory speed/cas latency. Also, if you want a little boost, put system performance from normal to optimal right by the memory settings. Good luck!

OK, set cpu speed to 100MHz, DIMM speed to 133, and CAS Latency timings to "by spd" or 3-3-3 and see what happens. If you still have problems, replace the generic RAM with another Crucial stick (although, even your Crucial RAM does not have very aggressive memory timing.) I have 256mb (2@128mb) of Mushkin Rev2 PC133 RAM on my A7V running at CAS 2-2-2 at 7.0ns 143MHz without any problems up to a FSB of 105.

Yo, Nutdotnet, I have the same set-up like you do: A7V, 100 FSB, PC133 SDRAM, no o'c, so with your current settings you should be ok. But did I get you right: only when you put in BOTH the Corsair and generic sticks together, that's when you hang going into Windows (98? ME? 2000?)? Seems to me that the two are not good bedfellows (timing mismatch?), so dump the generic one and buy another Corsair. Although I've tried both a Micron and a generic TOGETHER on my A7V and didn't have any problems whatsoever, I didn't test the system long enough; I ditched the generic coz I heard generic SDRAM can cause headaches on A7V's. Anyway, that's just my two-cents... GL!
