I'm just responding to that comment about lines showing where things move across the screen. I'm pretty convinced this is an undesired effect of the motion compensation of the DVD decoder/video card.
The idea is that by analyzing the picture frame after the present one, resources can be saved by simply shifting the image slightly without rendering it from scratch. I could be wrong about this, since I'm on my first DVD drive right now (a concession, since I was planning on getting a playstation 2 as my first DVD player), and have nothing to compare it with besides displays in electronics boutique.
I saw that effect when I first installed WinDVD, but found that by installing some patches, this effect lessened, but didn't go away altogether.
But it's much more tolerable now.
Anime really shows that kind of crap, too.
Since it's drawn lines, it's easy to notice corruption in motion.
The funny thing is the ATI DVD does't have those lines, only PowerDVD.
