Fan problem
Hey, about a couple months ago i built my first computer. Just about now i am having some problems with what i believe to be the heatsink/fan. When i am at my computer i am always hearing a fan seem to struggle, it keeps getting louder and softer and just flickering like that. It is the retail amd athlon heatsink/fan. I know that it can not be the case fan because it is coming from the center of the case. Also, my cpu temp is as low as it was before, about ~85F. What is wrong and what should i do?

Open the case and determine exactly where the sound is coming from. If it is the CPU fan you have no choice but to replace it. Your CPU will last less than one minute if the fan quits. I think AMD will replace the FHS at no charge since you purchased a boxed processor. Check with the supplier where you purchased it.

I am fine in the cpu fan quits on me, the bios that i am using supposedly shuts down if the fan goes below a certain RPM. The weird thing is though, after the computer has been on for ~5 minutes it stops making the noises.

sounds like your cpu fan is dying.. Id just replace the thing.. happened to my roommate a few weeks ago.. better to spend a little for a new fan than have a fried cpu.

Whats the best HSF for an enlight case + ABIT kt7 mobo + amd t-bird? I would like it to have a nice cooling power and be very quiet. Money is not an issue.
