MX300 on an ASUS CUSL2
Hey,
I just got an ASUS CUSL2 and am having problems with my Diamond Monster MX300. It keeps telling me that the card is installed on the secondary pci, and that my game controllers won't work. I've tried switching slots, but i still can't get my gameport to work. Any ideas? I got the CUSL2 without a built in soundcard
Thanks

1. Gameport doesn't work under 2k. and there are no drivers for it. (that might be the problem)
2. Quite naturally get the latest drivers if you haven't done so... Drivers for the MX300 are very hard to get right in my experience.

I'm running Win98 SE, not 2000, and i got the drivers from the diamond site, but neither of those worked. Thanks for the suggestions tho.

Dude you should have gotten the MX400. What were you thinking? Anyway, you need to:
1. go into the bios and update ESCD the pnp info.
2. delete ALL references the to the sound card in the windows\inf\other directory.
3. uninstalled any software you installed.
4. then reinstall drivers.
Let me know if it worked.

Heh, i would have gotten the MX400, only i got the MX300 a little over a year ago. If only the MX400 was out. Anyway, thanks for the tip, i'll try that. Last time i tried to delete all the files for the sound card, windows kept recognising it as a Diamond Monster card, and asking for the drivers for the multifunction parent. Made me sad. Thanks again,

I have that same card, and like you, I bought it a long time ago, when they first came out. I paid top dollar for it, only for DMM to decide they were releasing a couple of revisions of the drivers, then no more were released. Shortly down the road, no more A3D support, then Aureal croaks.
Then Windows 2000 comes out and doesn't really support the card. ERRR!!!!!!
Shoulda gone with the SB Live!!!!!!

Check out what I'm doing here, I could use everyones support.

I had the exact problem, running on CUSL2 with MX300. Tried everything didn't work so..... pulled card out and grabbed a sblive and chucked it in... https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif

I just got the fix for the MX300 in win98se, but either you get use of your gameport and sb emu, the difficulty being that windows will hang everytime you get to the "windows is now shutting down" screen, or you don't have a gameport and windows shuts down. The fix (thanks to Tejassammy) is merely adding the line
HKR,Config,DisableBusDetection,1,1
to your au30mmed.inf file if you're using the diamond drivers, or removing the semicolon before the line if you're using the reference drivers for the board. Either work, but the just cause the shutdown problem. Hope this helps,

the aureal drivers work quite well after probs with my mx300 which can be found here
http://support.aureal.com/
take the vortex2 drivers sq2500(AU8830) and remove your diamond drivers in device manager plus the utility in add\remove maybe also do a search in your registry to remove any leftover entries as well as folders on your C drive.
i noticed an improvement in overall performance of my system after removing the diamond drivers and installing the aureal's plus better sound.
