dead LAN- help me!!
Hey guys. I recently bought a linksys 10/100 cable router, the one port one, and got it connected to my LAN. now all comps can surf the net at like 3.5mbps, but i cannot share files or printers! I tried reinstalling everything, renaming my workgroup and client names, and all that, but nothing works. When i rename the workgroup and restart, everythings fine in network neighborhood, but when i shutdown and bootup 15min later, everythings gone! please give me some suggestions. thanks fellas!

You have to turn on File and Printer sharing first (and possibly install it).
Right Click on Network Nieghborhood:
If you have file and printer sharing skip to 2)
1)Click ADD -> Service -> File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks
2)Click the File and Printer Sharing button - put a check next to both options.
3)Reboot
4)Right-click on a drive/folder and choose sharing -- you can figure the setup out.. do that for every drive/folder you want to share (subdirectories are inherent)
Accessing a shared printer from another workstation:
1)Start->Settings->Printers
2)Add Printer -> Network Printer
3)Browse for printer on network off of the machine it is attached to (assuming it isn't on of those printers that acts a network station and your using a parallel connect) .. anyway, then pray the software works .. had some issues with HP software before when trying to get second machine to load drivers & software.
Goodluck, hope this helped.
