I just did a fresh install of win2k and set it up to be a domian controller. I can connect to it fine with win98/me, and i get all of my correct dns/ip info. But when i try to install win2k on the same machine so i can have dual boot it won't connect to the domain?? im stumped and not sure what to try next...anyone else have any ideas?
Are you using DHCP? If so it may be anticipating win9x.
Also you specify the domain durring installation, and it asks you for a user ID and password to add to the domain DURRING SETUP right after you specify the domain. Use the user name and password you chose when you setup the domain controller. I usually just use Administrator and my normal password (did you think I'd give that out here?) Win2k needs authorization to be added to the domain.

Windows NT & 2000 clients need to have a computer account in the domain, while Windows 9x/Me machines don't. If you can connect via a 9x machine, but not from NT/2k, this is probably the problem.
To add a Win2k machine to the domain, right click on "My Computer" and go to the "Network Identification" tab. From there, click on the "Properties" button. Select the machine to be a member of your domain, and when you do, you'll be prompted for a password -- use the Administrator account and password for your domain. You should get a "Welcome to the ____ domain" message, and if you do, you're set. If you don't, then you won't be able to connect.
...but before you go through all this trouble, make sure that your protocol(s) are set up and working (TCP/IP, etc.). If they're not working, then obviously your network's not working.
