The best application for video editing is probably Adobe Premiere https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gif

Now listening to:
The Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
T-Bird 1000@1100Mhz
The best in my experience so far are:
1. Adobe Premiere v6.0 (but needs additional Panasonic MPEG plugin)
2. Cinax WinVCR v1.2.2 (very easy to use, MPEG 1, 2 & WMA only)
3. Ulead Video Studio v5.0 (easy to use and learn, all formats)
4. Ulead Media Studio Pro v6.0 (easy to use etc, all formats and more powerful, kind of a cross between Video Studio and Premiere)
I tend to use WinVCR as it is quick and simple. For my editing I use Media Studio Pro v6.0 because it is powerful and easy.
Adobe Premiere is the most powerful, but has a steeper learning curve than the other software above. It has some amazing FX and editing options for people who are wanting total professionalism.
Hope this helps.
P.S. I think you need a Windows WDM driver to capture in MPEG 2.
sorry buddy you cant actually capture in "mpeg" .. ive heard ATI can do it.. but.. you said you had asus.. so thats just not possible.. theres nothing wrong with avi.. capture it in avi and compress it to mpeg/mpg either one.
You can compress AVI files using MPEG software like TMPGE. Go to Vcdhelp.com to download it. It's really nice. This is what I did to change my Dragon Ball Z episodes from AVI to Mpeg.
