Fortran?

I'm posting this because I was told that the whatever the NWS uses to encode radar images relates to FORTRAN. If anyone that knows the language, an example of the binary file that is encoded is located at ftp://ptgftp.nws.noaa.gov/SL.us00800....56rm0/SI.kabr

To do anything with those binary files you need a lot more than knowledge of Fortran. Almost every government agency or research laby that collects large amounts of data has its own binary format. Without the "data dictionary" or some other key has to how the data is encoded, it's next to useless.
