Best processor ? ? ?

Hi everyone!

I´m going to buy a new computer, and I do not know which cpu, motherboard and ram to buy. The computer will only be processing software development tool and programming code under Linux and Microsoft y2k, so what should I buy? What do you write and process your apps on?

The other parts:
ATI radeon ve
2x21" Sony screens
Digital Soundcard
Ethernet card 100mbit
