Hello everyone. I was just wondering... can any of you recommend any books on assembly? I looked on Amazon and stuff, and I could find were these old, cryptic, 250 dollar, hard cover, 5000 page books from the 70's and 80's meant for hardcore system programmers. I am trying to find an easier approach to the language, and I don't think those books would be helpful. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I have some really old ones that were pretty good, and several that weren't which I won't mention.
Look at assembly books by Peter Norton (norton Antivirus guy) and Harley Hahn (all around writer on everything). A lot of times they will keep them in print with new editions for years on end. Both of these focused on very practical things, and were pretty easy to follow for me as a beginning student.

I assume you mean assembly for Intel 80x86 type processors. I liked one by the Waite Group. It was current back in the days of the 80286 and early 80386 processors and I don't know if they have updated it. I can't remember the title but it was something like Assembly Language Programming for MSDOS.
Note that assembly language is strongly tied to the processor unlike C and Java which are more or less processor independent.
