I was browsing around gamespot and I saw a article saying that all types of video gaming are now banned in greece :eek: :eek: :eek: . I think that this is outragous and should be changed immediatly. The article said that it was suposed to just ban gambling casino type video games but it was worded very loosly so all video games now come under the law.
Gamers have to speak up for their rights and stop this nonsence NOW!!!!!!!!!!:o :o

I guess so, but what would you say if gamming got banned in the U.S or wherever you live. I don't think you would be very happy, would you? I guess in a communist country you may expect it but greece is a democracy and the adults should have freedom to spend their spare time however they choose as long as it isn't harmming anyone or anything else.

Yes it is probably legal to ban their gamming but, i'm sure some people will speak out against it. It can be changed if enough pressure is put on the government. I guess if the majority of the population agreed it would be alright, but i still don't see the sense in it.:(
Sucks for gamers in Greece. One more reason I love living in the good 'ol USA. :D
I think that it's sad, 'cause not all video games are gambling related. Also, I find that playing games is a good way to relax when trying to escape the real world. Games do us a favor by replicating the many instincts that human beings have. In doing so, we can have wars without real casualties, and we can vent out our anger without causing any pain. I wonder how this will effect their society.

heh i spent alot of time along the greek/macidonian border and from what i saw ppl who live in the N end of greece are not gonna care all that much.
Funny that they banned gaming , but pr0n is still legal.
I think thats about as f*cked up as the firearm laws in the US :)

Wow and I thought you canadiens had a little more education,seems I was wrong cause you dont know the first thing on what communisim/socialism is and you certainly take for granted what democracy is.
Heres a hint socialism or communisim whatever you wanna call it in REALITY is more democratic then the so called "democracy" you talk of.

I doubt they literally banned video games,I used to live in Europe I know how it is,in bars they usually had slot machines or video slot machines.The law was probably passed to ban them which is stupid as well,but the video games got caught up in the mix,and let me add these are probably coin op arcade games,I highly doubt that PC and consoles are banned.

You got that wrong. You should try reading the article. All games of any kind based on software are banned. No PC games of any kind, including those built into Windows. No console games of any kind. No hand held gaming machines (ala Game Boy, cell phones, etc.) The ban even includes any game type demos that may be on movie DVDs that are some times there to promote the movie or an upcoming game for the movie.Quote:

They told an internet caffee they could stay open so long as they didn't allow any kind of games to be played, and that included online chess. If they failed to abide by the rules the caffee would be shut down and they would be fined several thousand Euros, which is about on part with the US dollar so that is mucho money, and they could serve anywhere from one month to 12 months in jail.
