My good 'ol trusty refurb Dell Latitude is working well for me (it's a great portable DivX playa ;)
Dell C-600 750 P-III and a HP 1210 AMD XP 1400
I have a Compaq Evo N610c with all the bells and whistles. :)
I still have a mostly dead IBM ThinkPad 600. :(
Compaq Evo N160, belongs to my place of employment but since I use it all the time we'll consider it mine ;)
it's a very restricted poll. could have added IBM and Compaq/HP to the list. After all they are big laptop manufactuers too. Even though I have a dell ;)
IBM ThinkPad 600E & Dell Inspiron 4100. (I've also got a dead Sony Vaio 505G, but figured that didn't count.)
I have a toshiba but I also mess with TiBooks and iBooks a lot. They run linux fast as hell.
Sorry, if a moderator would like to add those 2 options than that would be fine. :) i just figured a lot more people would have used Dell. Ohh well, I guess I should have added IBM. So far I am 0/3 in polls at Sharky :)Quote:

I fixed the poll and moved 2 votes from other (mine & muisejt) to HP/Compaq.
well I've used a few Dells in my day and I would have to say I like these Compaq Evo's better, thin, light and powerfull. one little draw back is no serial port so you would have to cart around a port replicator if you need to configure routers and switches. other than that I think I would buy an Evo over a Dell if I was in the market for a laptopQuote:

My N610c has headphone, mic, serial, parallel, IR, video, svideo, 2 USB, 2 pccard, USB in LCD cover for wireless, phone and mouse/keyboard ports as well as the port replicator and multibay.
the N160 has headphone, mic, 1394 (4-pin), parallel, s-video, video, 2 USB, modem, NIC all on the back. if they would have put the audio connectors on the side instead (speakers are in front) they could of squeezed a serial port in
I wish mine had a firewire port. My TV has 3 of them, but my PCs have none.
a chunky *** compaq presario 1694 with an AMD k6-2 with 64mb of sdram! i guess the 14.1" screen and the DVD drive are the only pluses ;) and guess what? i'm typing on it right now! stupid computer died on me
Thanks for the poll adjustment. :) The specs for mine are P!!! 750Mhz, DVD-ROM, 512MB PC-100 (upgrade), and 10GB hard drive. I usually just use it for school. I do all my school work on there and bring it to class so I can get a lot more done. Mine's pretty thick, and one day I wanna invest in one of those super thin ones. Anandtech had an article about Comdex and everything that was there, and they had a beuatiful laptop there by Sharp. Check this out http://anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1755&p=15 That is remarkable, and I would love to have something like that.
That sharp one is pretty badass. it's styling reminds me of a TiBook, which is good. My Toshiba has 3 USB 2.0, 1 firewire, 1 pcmcia(filled with a cisco pcm352) yamaha 72x sound, IrDA, built in eepro100 lan, a modem but who cares, tv output, monitor output, sound output, and a flash card reader.
Oh yah, forgot it comes with a remote too. Not sure what all it's used for. I've never used it.
A modem is essential for those who travel or send faxes.
I’m still using an old Compaq Presario 1611. 200MHz Pentium and no bells or whistles, at least none that still work. The controller for the hard drive died, so I moved the hard drive to the CD controller and got an external CD reader. Then when I put 2000 Pro on it I had to write the modem off, no 2K driver. 90 percent of the time I just plug it into the network. Occasionally I have turned it on with the .11 card in the slot and gotten access though other people’s networks.
I got my Sony 1.13GHz Pentium 3 laptop last year and I love every bit of it.
My personal laptop:
Dell Inspiron 8000
1GHz P3
512MB PC100
32GB HDD
GF2 Go 32MB
My main work laptop:
Dell Latitude C840
1.6GHz P4
512MB RAM
18GB HDD
GF2 Go 32MB
I've got to haul both with me when I travel, can't really admin our network and game on the same system.
no laptop.
i troubleshoot my family/friend's Dells, HP's and Toshibas, though.
Compaq Armada 1500c !!!
266Mhz of raw processing power
32mb of ram!
3gb hard drive!
I use it mostly for word processing and instant messenger.
But at least it was cheap, only traded my EQ account. (best thing I've ever done)
IBM tpad
800mhz p3
128mb ram
win2kpro
12gb hd
it kinda needs to go, so im glad christmas is comin:D
Dell Inspiron 8200.P4-1.6, 512RAM, DVD/CDRW, Zip250, Wireless miniPCI card. Great machine. Little heavy, but great desctop replacement (I still use my two desctops though).
