3D Realms has said that it'll be out "when it's done" ... bullpoop. They've been saying that for the past 6 years. It's going to be released in Q1 2003. Or maybe Q2 2003. Definately the first half of 03'. Basically, shortly after Unreal 2 is released, we'll have DNF in our hands, FINALLY! Trust me. It's going to be great. http://www.click-smilie.de/sammlung/...Sarge/Sign.gif

Yeah, word is that 3D REALMS are still working on it. But people have been siphoned off the project for various reasons. So progress is slow. Nobody knows why the game has been delayed so long. It's release has looked immanent several times in it's turbulent history with impressive looking screenshots trickling onto the web. Even those old Quake 2 engine shots look good. Rumour still has it that the game will finally be out earlyish in 2003 come hell or high water. Everybody is sick to death of hearing about it and nobody can give a toss about waiting for it. 3D REALMS screwed up with development, always feeling the game wasn't good enough to release.
probably another daikatana...
you said the D word

they boast about how this game is going to be so revolutionary and how it's not "cookie cutter", but by the time it comes out, it will be so outdated. just like max payne. the ONLY thing it had going for it was the neat bullet time effect which was easily achived in a user mod for UT called crazy matrix way before that game was every released.
i just dont see why they didnt come out with their original ideas for duke, and then just make a sequal or something with all the stuff they're making now. in the time they've had, they could have made 2 really good games. it's been what? 5 years now? going on 6?
i laugh my *** off every time i see that avatar and quoteQuote:

Last I heard the development team was trying to master those d@mn "pixel shaders". :P
They're still trying to grasp the power of the GeForce 256 ;)
Apparently the only part of Duke Nukem Forever that is ready for shipping...is the strippers . They put alot of work in on those.
I am sure once they can grasp DirectX they will be in good shape.

How did Warcraft III manage to get on a vaporware list? My understanding is that Vaporware titles are those games/apps that we've all been waiting for but never appear (much like DNF). If Warcraft III is vaporware I wanna know what game I have in my hand along with the expansion pack  LOL
War3 was vaporware for a long time
dev started in 96 or 97 from what i remember
there is no expansion for warcraft IIIQuote:

Second of all: What expansion pack?
EDIT: Unless you mean that fake warezed expansion?
A lot of the vaporware is caused by some companie refusing to use already existing 3D engines.. They don't want to live with the constraints, and pay the royalties. Developing a new 3D engine is time-consuming, and is costly. Bad wages and working conditions also bog down development, because whenever the guys get sick of an employer, they leave, and a lot of the work is to be started over.
Duke Forever, IMO, will come out. And my little crystal ball tells me that it will be around the same time as DoomIII...
yeah, but that's no excuse for duke forever since it started out on the quake2 engine(i think) and ended up on the unreal warfare engine...Quote:
