i haven't even heard the ultras yet....saw 'em in the monstrous box they come in at best buy, but haven't gotten a chance to listen to 'em yet

On a side note: Maximum PC still considers the Logitech Z-680's to be the best 5.1 speaker system, even after reviewing the Ultras. :eek:

haha, yea. the ultras are clearly better, i don't know who would tell you otherwise. can you throw a link of that review? i've owned both, and the ultras are like a ferrari where as the z680s is a mustang. (i don't like ford :))

Hey all you bastards :p , I got Z-680's, the first decent sound system I've had, I used to have to use the old family computer with 2 22 watt harman/kardon speakers on a sound blaster live value sound card, so feel my pain. These speakers sound worlds better then those did, so don't bash my speakers! Not nice! :) Happy bday btw, I turned 19 (legal drinking age in Canada) 4 days ago!

No no! I'm not bashing the 680's they are a powerful system no doubt. However even when you put them beside the klipsch 5.1s let alone the ultras they are left behind in depth and quality. volume is louder on the 680's at a tuned frequency of about 40 hz, but the klipsch has a more rounded and louder volume for the entire spectrum.

and, the bass isn't overwhelming and bleedy. oh, and it hits the highs, unlike the z680s.

Well I have the Z-680s and they seem to be very good speakers, I don't know what you mean about the depth and that, I'm sure there's a difference with the Ultras, however is it really THAT noticeable? Is it worth the $400?

If you're totally happy with the Z680's enjoy them. Don't listen to us. Plus the Z680's have external decoders and a wireless remote, unlike the Ultras. I personally own the Z560's but I wouldn't mind having the Ultra's if I had the money.

Just imagine if the Z680's had tweeters and ANOTHER 8inch driver in the sub, with less distortion or boominess, solid output at 25HZ...then that's what Ultras would sound like.:D

I know about the price of the subs and that. You hit 3000 posts btw :D Well, you audio nazis enjoy them, I might pick them up for my next set if I buy another one

If you do decide to buy some in the future, I suggest crossing the border and buying them in the States. MUCH cheaper. The only place that sells Klipsch speakers near me is London Drugs. They sell the REGULAR Promedia 5.1's for $699 Canadian. There's no way that the conversion rate from $400 US is that bad.:eek:

$400 USD is $529 Canadian! Holy cow ripoff! LOL, anyways, ya, I will be going to the states, a 3 hour drive to michigan! Border people don't get pissed off when you got a big speaker system in the back in a box still?

I really loved Canada's low drinking age :D I had a trip to Canada back when I was in Highschool... The boarder patrol wouldnt let us enter the US again with the cases of beer we had in the back... So we sat at the boarder drinking it all...

That's the problem. You can only declare so much. The longer you stay in the states, the more you can declare...otherwise they'll charge you for tax/duty. (which is COMPLETE BS...imho)

Or...you can goto the states, buy the speakers, come right back and HOPE they don't search your car or see the speakers.;)
