Will I have a Friend(only 3 "geek" friends).And two of them have and I seen with my two eyes,that they have a Duel mother board systems.And I don't know how they do it,so I asked and they have some wire to connect the mother boards.I didn't hear the name of it(I was at a Dance(7th and 8th grade)and I couldn't hear).So I was going to see if anybody has the name of those wires,where do I connect the wires to,can my mobo support these thing.?

what my friend has,is one mobo w/ a 386 o/c 212,and a mobo w/ a 486 o/c to 233.And has the two mobo connected so it would be like a duel CPU but its two mobos.Thos making a system of a 450 some(too late for me to do math)Mhz system!!

The 486 topped out at 100Mhz and that was an AMD chip. The 386 topped at 25Mhz I think. Secondly there is no such thing as what you describe. So therefore you are full of ****.

And also, Revilre, Intel also made a 100MHz 486. It was called the DX4, and it had a 33MHz front side bus with a 3.0 multiplier. I believe there was also a low volume unit that ran a 25MHz front side bus, which yielded a 75MHz DX4.
Umm, i don't think you can do that... Your freinds are lying, and a 486 can't do 200 mhz, no way, no matter what the cooling is. And why don't they just get new comps, you could easly get a 600 duron and ASUS A7V for under 220 bucks.
Now after having this post,I'm goin to kick somebodys ***.And I do know SOME things about computers(I made one for me),and also my "friends" have a little busseiness and they make software and have (I don't know if it's done)a 16-bit OS that runs on MS-Dos(like windows 3.11-),and also makes computers (we buy the parts)and I'm the head guy (and the only one)building the computers.
and tring to be a programmer but doesn't know what to start on.

I'm sure your friend really does have dual mobo's. Even I could take a wire (any wire will do, by the way) and connect it to two motherboards and presto! Dual mobo system! Of course, no electricity would actually flow through the wire, but dude, it would be sooooo cool!
Are you sure it's not duel cpu's? You can connect more than 1 mother board if you most know. Not sure about pc's doing this. But it can be done. Just not the way your thinking. BAsicly one computer has lan support over the other with a direct cable link...yawnQuote:

Anyway, about the dual motherboards, it's possible. See, my friends', brothers', best friends', mom, had this guy at work who knew a guy at the building across from them who lived down the street from this kid who saw a boy in a show who had known this guy from a while back that detailed his sightings on someone that had seen a person who knew another guy that had a friend who ran around showing pictures of this guy that one time had a buddy who had been friends with some guys who were at this dance and heard this story about some guys who invented a system that would allow two motherboards to be run on the same system, which he had gotten from this kid who was working with his friends on an OS that ran over DOS (?) and also had a business where they built computers and one of the guys was into programming, but he didn't know how to program yet, because he didn't know what he was doing, but he built his own computer, then ran a business doing that.
Anyway, I don't believe it because they said they had built an OS that ran over DOS, and I just find it hard to believe that people would waste their time on a 16bit OS. I would have believed the story above if it had not been for that last part.
I have a wire (10baseT) connecting my wife's computer with mine, so I have her 750 AMD with my Celeron 566 and that adds up to something like 1316, but it's too early to open the calculator in Windows for me to verify that.

I have to weigh in against your friends there, and suggest that you been duped. No constructive data transfer is going to pass along a simple cable if you link two boards together, except, as noted, direct Lan.
I'm confused, trying to imagine the two boards in a single case, since that must be a big one.
You should skip the whole frankenstein idea of building a computer with two left feet, and focus on getting some socket 7 board, if you want to stay away from the more modern stuff. You can tinker with those and put in all sorts of chips. Hell, I have a P200 you can have (if I can find it and you can bend the pins back into place around one of the outside edges)
I agree that something isn't right here, there are processor farm type things where they have multiple mainboards linked and working together (via eithernet if I am not mistaken) but they are very specialized. For instance, Industrial Light and Magic (big motion picture graphics company owed by Lucas Arts I believe) and Pixar use systems like that to render there insanely high end graphics. HP also builds insanely high end servers (in the millions of dollars range) that consist of multiple motherboards that work togther (communicating over gigabit eithernet I believe) but seeing a 486 motherboard and a 386 motherboard doing it is something I doubt. I don't even think I can recall of any 386 or 486 motherboards with built-in eithernet or anything they could have talked over (doesn't mean they didn't exsist but I have never seen one)
BTW, I have used imbedded versions of the i486 that run at 133Mhz. and I believe there was a PC version of the AMD 486 133Mhz. processor at one time...though I am not certain. A 386 running at 212 or whatever you said doesn't seam even remotely possible to me. I think your friends are lying to ya, or you misunderstood because of the noise...

Okay,Now I know MORE from the e-mail that I sended him.
He knows how-to program in QBasic(so do I but not very good)he connected a seral(I think it was a nule cable) to both mobo,than he wrote a program so that it will send half of one command and the other half to the other procceser,than It will have the command.
