hmmm, I'm not 100%, but maybe it means it will support up tp 2.4GHz? Intel hasn't released aything in awhile, so whoo knows.
No man, it means that the fan speed will cool a processor that runs under 2.4Ghz....maybe overclocked, but the p-4s are VERY hard to overclock. Its a good fan..Quote:

Does this mean there is an impending release of a processor running above 2 ghz??? I know that intel have been showing off CPU's running at3/3.5 Gz at shows but i didnt think they were begining to put procescers like this into production.
Any comments?

Where did you hear about 2.2 in 2 weeks? Everything I have seen points to Jan 2002. It would be interesting if they pushed up the release to keep up with the Athlon XP.

1 GHz T-bird @ 1120, 224 MHZ FSB

Creative 12x10x40x CDRW
SB Live Value
Logitech z-560's
ASUS V7700 Deluxe GF2 GTS
KDS 19" shortneck monitor
Enlight 7237
typo, i think.
The 2.2 GHz "Northwood" was originally supposed to debut in September, then late November. That only recently got pushed back to Jan 2002.

The p4 is a very overclockable chip its the RD-ram witch limits the chip this can be overcome using a SDR or DDR ram platform https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/5.gifQuote:

i've heard its prossible to get the P4s to
10Ghz!!!
Why are the Pentium4's so hard to OC? How high do you think a 1.4 GHz p4 (with PC-800 RDRam on an Asus P4T) could be OC'ed?
My rough guess would be around 1600 MHz to 1700 MHz. Just don't lower your RAMBUS multiplier to get higher speeds, you'll end up with less performance.Quote:

watch the time fly by...i'd say less than 100 years and we will have computers that are so powerful, you never need another upgrade again (except for bragging rights). Terahertz processors etc...it'll be interesting for sure.

Who nows maybe within a hundred years we can have these Terahertz processcors implanted in our brains and attempt the ultimate overclocking project!
lol
Uh huh and AMD will have a 7Ghz that will outperform Intel's 10 Ghz....some things never change https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/6.gifQuote:

I've heard there is software out there that learns by itself. Also there are robots that can "think" for themselves already. I'm actually afraid of this technology.

I've heard rumors that the P4 users will be able to buy the processor up until a good 3.5 ghz before they may possibly hit a dead-end.
This is good news, because I am about to buy a P4 chipset, and the last thing I want Intel to do is change their damn architecture again so that it will be rendered incompatible with existing P4 supporting motherboards.
I'm very used to having chipsets that last as long as the 440BX, and I expect Intel to devlope one that lasts just as long.
