But, it's cool that you're trying all those cards. :)
you wanna know what was bliss? going from an onboard 2mb card to my tnt pci, I could now run 1600x1200x32 bit in 2d instead of having to use 800x600 for 32 bit colors or 8 bit in 1600x1200. Looked great for photoshop too :D also I could actually run quake3. Then when I got a geforce2mx, I went from 800x600 to 1600x1200 in quake3 and got the same fps at that :eek: from tnt to geforce2mx was a HUGE difference, like triple then from that to a ti4200 was once again triple or even more! now from a ti4200 to a 9800 np will be 1.5 times better without aa/af its an improvement, but I wish to wait to get triple what my ti4200 does like I always did
2mb onboard-------------> 16mb tnt
16mb tnt---------------> 32mb geforce2mx
32mb geforce2mx---------> 64mb ti4200
64mb ti4200-------------> ATI Loci??????
I have other cards and have a ti500 a bit before the ti4200, also had a ti4600 twice which I resold LOL. I was thinking of getting a radeon9800 for $100 in 2007 but screw that, not enough of an upgrade. Maybe ill stop being so cheap and just spent the $200 the Loci may be by 2007 or wait for a dx10 card. Ive always had near cutting edge cpu but was a bit behind on video tech since cpus are far more important than video cards. cd roms, hard drives, sound cards are of minor importance.
"You know t-bird... with the money, you could've gotten a R9800np and be in sweet gaming bliss."
I could buy like 10 games for that money and run each of them in 2048x1536 and I dont mean quake2 era games either, more like last years titles :)
"Hear, hear! I play Jedi Knight II with all the settings turned up at 2048x1536(!!) and have yet to see any slowdown."
I am not supprised, you got a beefy cpu doing much of the load anyway. I ran ut2003 at 2048x1536 and got 20ish fps but now I should get over 30 with that cpu I got.
"by the time I'll actually need all I can get out of this setup, I'll have upgraded."
point taken, not worth upgrading for a few more hundred unless you want bragging rights. I could break 15k right now if I got pc3500 ram for $150 for a 512mb stick but im happy at 14642 for now, maybe when ram becomes dirt cheap ill shell out $50 for it :)
TB, you dont need better ram to break 15k... You can do it with what you have its not that hard :D
Then just tell him C man!;):D
Argh, I'm *this* close to breaking 20k myself...19985 :| Can't seem to get that high again though, anyone wanna pm me some tips and tricks? :D ;) ;)

I am 359 marks away, that is alot. I have already lowered the IQ, lowered the lod bias, set mipmap to 3 in rivatuner, maxed out all overclocks. There are three ways left to break 15k:
1. get higher clocks on ti4200 from either a V mod or buy another ti4200 and try my luck
2. buy another cpu and hope I get around 2.7GHz, because this is what its gonna take, not likley to happen without water or a prometeia, that option I will pretty much forget.
3. faster ram and hope the ti4200 can handle high agp speeds
very slim chance, maybe its not that hard on a p4 at 3.5GHz, but I am in 2nd place for ti4200s, the winner has an nf2, higher fsb, dual channel and a ti4200 that ocs as good as me, yet hes only 60 lousy marks ahead of me, this shows im doing excellent for what I have, he has better hardware and yet hardly beats me. If the ram on my ti4200 would do just 20MHz higher, I would eat his score easy :eek:
Its not hard at all... Just by looking at your score I know an easy way to just score atleast 130 points more without changing anything in overclockage.. But hey...
WE all know you cannot do it.. So it should be stated as TB cannot get 15k but other people can :D with that same setup :D
EDIT:
Also I know you act like you know what you are doing TB.. But you do know you CANNOT take every score on that site as golden!!! You do know that right???? Just because someone is only 60points ahead doesnt mean that if you hand it off to lets say someone is better like the 24k and up people... that they can take that same setup and not vmod it and score much higher!
That score for all you know was taken with SETI in the background.. Its not likely but it shows how vast that scoreboard can be!
Just cause I can.. Here are some links with an AMD within your CPU range and same video card.. This guy did a awesome overclock on it!
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6483104
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6283611
ALSO, the difference between an AMD SCDDR vs. DCDDR is only about 140-points more if that... It is NOT amazing!! So stop acting like it does wonders :D
Just to show you that your score is nothing to write home and that it can be much higher... That most GF4 4200 scoring in the 146xx - 147xx are in the low 2Ghz AMD range...
But whatever, you can stay in your world of denial :)

dude, he has 245fsb and possibily a ti4600 flashed with the ti4200 bios, whatever, at 370/770 I am not supprised hes eating me by over 3k marks. you think its not hard, well it is when my fsb is 190 and my ti4200 is 300/590. lemmie do the math:
fsb from 190 to 245 would gain me about 1k more marks.
300 to 370 core is worth 700 more marks
590 to 770 is worth 900 more
Thats 2500 over me, hes 3100 over me. the other 600 probably is tighter ram timings, nf2 mobo against my kt400, underestimation, etc.
I will try running again, maybe I can beat ignitators 14702 score :)
He was just one of them!!! He was also on the first page of the 4200.. But please stop this insane crap talk about flashing a 4600 to a 4200...
Oh wow, why dont I flash my 9800 Pro to a 9000 and have everyone drool... Come on man... Dont find excuses.. Just do! :D
EDIT:
Since you are inexperience with benchmarking just post a thread asking for help.. Its not hard :) But you have to listen to the advice not just brush it off as usual.. Like that heatsink :D

one of who? and if people can flash a 9700 pro to a 9800 pro bios or even a 9500 to 9700 that 3dmark thinks its a 9700, what would prevent people from flashing a ti4600 to a ti4200 and windows and 3dmark would detect it as a ti4200? I am not accusing anyone, just saying its very possible. you cant flash a 9800 to a 9000, different cores, but ti4600s and ti4200s are identical except clocked higher.
All it is, is a name within the BIOS that is picked up by Windows and 3DMarks... So all you need to do is hack the BIOS and change the name to whatever :)
It shouldnt be that hard...
Hey Colossus, benchmarks and pics on CF!
I told you. now those ti4200s.........probably ti4600s with a hacked bios like I said. Those ocs are very impressive even for ti4600s, if they had a real ti4200, they would score like 1500 marks less or around 16,000-16300
Please man... Not everything is false.. Just look at the massive list of 4200 on the board showing 17k+!!!!
So everyone flashed their BIOS from a 4600 to a 4200??? Come on.. I said it can be possible, doesnt mean I did it or if it would actually work... It was just a possibility.. Not even a very good guess :D

perhaps, also even if those ti4200s did those insane ocs, youd need prometeias to the core and ram plus ungodly volt mods. 370 on the core isnt so unbelievable, ive seen people get 320-340 on air with a v mod, a few even without v mods! the ram is a different story however. going from 500 to 770MHz? damn! :eek: even for albatrons, not many do 650 on the ram, the last guy got only 295/600 on his albatron turbro! maybe if you are very, very, very, very lucky against long odds you might hit 700MHz on the ram, then use a prometeia cooling both the core/ram and v mod it to ungodly levels and perhaps its possible. Those guys are pros and insane tweakers, I would need a $1000 prometeia to even think about hitting 350/700+ speeds, let alone what they did. also I would need way higher than 190fsb too. Could cost me 2 grand for that, many cpus and ti4200s before I find one thatll oc that high and then yea after weeks of time and thousands spent ill break 17k. good for bragging rights, bad for games, a simple $250 9800 would match or eat that ti4200
It is true that most do not give enough detail on how they are obtaining such high overclocks... But I wouldnt start to call people cheating :) Some might, and I have seen scores.. But if the highest score was 15k and someone scores 17k with similar hardware.. You know something is fishie!!!
I know you can break 15k.. Give it another shot... Also dont install DX9.0 install DX 8.1 :)
There are things you can do that will easily raise your score without overclocking harder...
Someone needs to modivate people to benchmark and overclock for a higher score!

Congrats Saffire, nice score, does my soul good to see more and more AMDs hitting 20k!;)
Nice job Saffire! 20K is no small feat! :D
Now, share the wealth, what's this CF you talk about?;) :D
