I'm thinking of either buying R300 or ti4400, depending on which I can afford. :)

There we go. The jpeg is two posts above and the link is in this post. #1 Tbird & 4200 combo. :D
The best part was I only had to lower my core by 3Mhz [312/600]to run 170FSB versus 166FSB [315/600]. I'd like to think I could try 180-something x9 but I'm not certain my crucial pc2100 is up to the task.
One thing. I'm almost certain I could go higher than 600Mhz on the memory if it were available to me.
BTW I did do a small mod on the card. I attached a 80mm fan with those blue LED's directly over the gpu cooler and memory chips on that side. I also added a 6"x6" mirror to the floor of my case so the light can reflect as well as me seeing the bottom of my case. As soon as I get a digital pic I'll post it as well.
Saps, while on the subject of gpu cooling, do you think that the side-fans that attach along side the vid card (like www.1coolpc.com sells) work well (let you OC the vid card any higher?)... if you have experience with them?
Sorry to get kinda OT, but I want to push more than the 290/300 from this R8500 and I'm losing ideas.
What I mean is, the ones like this:

it helps a lot, but for me I used one of those gigantic fans turned on full blast, and had two of those fans blowing over my 8500, and it was perfectly stable at 301/301. i didnt push it any farther i was just trying to break 10k which i did:D
3dmark 2k1
heres a pic of it

What's with this? Did I get a lucky R8500?? Oh yeah, my R8500 was a LE too. So clocked at 250/250 with 3.6ns RAM. I got my card to 310/310 no extra weird cooling at all.
They sure can. I have superglued a 80mm fan to my gpu cooler such that it blows onto the gpu cooler and the memory on that side of the video card. I only have a mere 32cfm fan and I really got it because of the blue led's which reflect up off the mirror I installed on the case floor. But certainly the little bit of extra cooling helpsQuote:

Sounds good, I just want to push 19 more points out of 3dmark 2k1SE, if I hit 11k with my R8500, I'll be VERY happy. :)Quote:

At this point, I don't think I'll need the extra cooling. If I can get my memory to 310, I think I should have it. :)
19 points can often be achieved with a re-boot and re-test. Otherwise a mere Mhz on either the core or memory could do it. Of course drivers are the most likely manner in which to gain free pointsQuote:

105 PAGES!!!!
A 3DMark of 7498 on a Athlon 1400 and a GF4 Ti 4200 128?
Why do you guys think its so low? Maybe my athlon and fsb are limiting me...
I know that putting my FSB to 140MHz instead of 133 took my 3Dmark up 200-300 marks... And thats only a 70MHz increase in CPU speed, lol
I am getting an XP 2000+ by the end of the summer, what kinda scores do you guys think I can expect then?
KaoTiK at least 8000 something. Maybe even 9000 something.
I got 8270 points in 3dmark with my new rig, i havent oc:ed anything yet. in about a week i am going to do a mild overclock (140 FSB, 8500le to 275/275) im hoping for 9k+ scores.
Just got my new system, haven't oced the vid card yet.
10579 Marks
EDIT- oced Vid card to 300/650, and got
11435
I really only did it because I felt inferior to Sapasions Ti4200 :)
But I didn't beat it by much, thats an excellent o/c and score man!
Woo Hoo :)
A 3Dmark like that would make me good and happy :)
Now I just need 300 bucks CDN to buy a athlon xp 2000+... Heh.
