Finally bought a game in the Holiday Sale. Bulletstorm for $5.
I wanted Bulletstorm, but then I got
"Only low violence version available in your region." when I clicked on it.
I mean whats the point?
so if i've learned one thing from being overseas and dealing w/ the internets, cheap vpns are your friend :D had to use one just to play skyrim which i bought in nov from amazon. it still required steam to unlock, but it said it wasn't available in my region until mid dec. here's the one i recently used. it works on a monthly subscription. http://en.kryptotel.net/kryptovpn.html
or, if you have access remotely to a computer in the US, using windows 7 vpn, there should be a checkbox to use the remote location to send all internet traffic. that should work, but i haven't tested it.
also, if you have a CC w/ an american address, you can buy steam games through the store w/ this link: http://store.steampowered.com/?cc=us
you might have to contact steam support and tell them you're american living overseas or or something. they didn't ask any questions, just said my ip didn't match my cc info, so i got flagged and couldn't make purchases. they said they fixed it and to use that link, and everything has been good ever since. :)
Steam won't let me order over VPN it tells me I'm an idiot trying to get around Germany's laws every time I do.
And Kero... lol I've been using a VPN for years to let my wife get her US TV fix.
How I usually take care of my steam purchases is to have a friend gift me the game from the US. I just couldn't be bothered to bug someone for Bulletstorm though.
So getting gifted a game gives you the US version and not just the German version?
