Well I haven't kept up with the times, but Geil is still on my "shady" list; i.e. they do great in reviews, but suck in real life. Good Luck with it bud, I'm interested to see the results ;)

I still don't get it! What's DDR got to do with it? Consider the full 4-burst latency and speed of each stick:Quote:
Chuck232 Latency these days just isn't worth it over higher speeds, at least for the P4Cs.
PC4000 = 3-4-4-8, speed 500
It takes 19 clocks (3+4+4+8) / 2(DDR) or 9.5 to fetch data
PC3200 = 2-3-2-6, speed 400
It takes 13 clocks (2+3+2+6) / 2(DDR) or 6.5 to fetch data
That makes the PC3200 32% faster due to its lower latency than the PC4000 and the PC4000 is only 20% faster! Which means you'd have to OC the PC4000 at least 12% (32 - 20) just to stay even with the PC3200 and it means you're running the PC4000 @ 560 which you might have trouble attaining.
But the newer chipsets are designed differently in that they are more optimized for faster RAM speeds and not latency.
I'm not really informed in this RAM business, so I'll let someone else take over the discussion.
All I know is that the 865/875 chipsets love FSB/RAM speed more than latency. Just don't know why exactly..:p
I wish I had the knowledge to tell you why but I don't.
I do know that going from CL2 to CL 3 doesn't really affect you at all. I also know that it's the second 2 numbers (that are usually 2 or 3) that increasing them to 4 is what hurts you the most.
But overall I believe it's something to do with PAT on the canterwood that allows you to get good performance with crappier timings.
It seems some people have gotten this corsair to run at 2.5-3-3-7 anyway which is perfectrly acceptable timings.
I'll let you all know how it works out when I get it.:)
I'll also take some Sandra Benchs at different timings as this has peaked my curiousity a bit.:)
That would be great! :) Many here would appreciate the effort.Quote:

And, of course, I should have added the fact that most decent memory can be clocked lower than its specs would indicate. Ex: try running the PC4000 at 2.5-3-3-7 instead of the spec timings of 3-4-4-8. That makes it 18% faster over stock and only 3% slower overall than stock PC32000.
I see a review coming for the database. PC4000 max speed at stock timings vs max speed at tighter timings compared to PC3200 or 3500 RAM and the effects on 3DMark01SE and 3DMark03 marks.
I'm thinking of writing another review...
P4 533MHz platform vs. P4 800MHz platform with and without Dual channel...
hahaha.. i already done the review.. dual channel versus single channel and memory dividers.. i have to write the conclusion right now.. and i'll submit it to vert asap...WOOOOOOOTTT..hope you guys like it
Chuck your review is up!
Ok guys....new rules for all future reviews to make it easier on me.
What I want is a folder. In this folder make an HTML page with your images also in the folder.
I will supply the HTML page with comments telling you where to insert your code.
It takes me too long to format everything from a word document.
You should make them look like our other reviews. All fonts should be "Trebuchet MS".
Any one writing a review please email me at [email protected] and I will email you back the HTML file that you will modify.
So once again:
1. Make folder
2. In folder put the HTML file from me and any images you use
3. Modify HTML file for your review
4. Use font "Trebuchet MS"
Then zip the folder and send it to me. This will make my life a lot easier as then I can just add your folder to the site and link to it.
Thanx guys.:)
Hey Chuck232, well done review on the Sonata case and good looking graphics! :) Bravo!
P.S. I never recommend front panel fans anyway, just front panel filters :D
Thanks a lot Vert and OS-Wiz!:D
Hopefully I'll be able to write a few more reviews during my abnormally lengthy free time.;)
Just sent you mail with another entry. Mt little Shuttle XPC just broke 15K with a Ti4400 ;)
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6841239
Funny thing is FutureMark sees the card as a Ti4200 and the drivers as 4800??
Did you send it to Pyro or me? I didn't get anything.:)Quote:

You can send updates to either of us or just post them here in the thread. Nice to see an update from ya!:)
sent it to pyro...didn't know you were doing it as well :confused:Quote:

hey guys...i'm planning on soon joining up with the team. i just have a couple of questions. will changing up my ram timings effect my 3dmark score quite a bit? or am i looking at just very small changes? also, where do you guys suggest learning about ram timings. i know almost nothing about messing with those settings and what i should be shooting for, etc.
oh yeah...i also need to add that link to my sig...plan on doing that soon! benchmarking is so much fun! ;) :D
