#75, way to go, folks!
We've been having a helluva battle up at #26, fighting off Team MacOSX. For awhile they had 20k/wk more production than us, and were scheduled to pass us on Jan 4th. Between us kicking up production and their slacking off, its leveled out. Currently only an 8000pt lead, and they were within 6k at one point. Still looking rather interesting, its not over yet.
Definitely making it fun again up top. Didn't expect to be fighting this close up here in the ranks.
Oh, another congrats to see you folks holding at 70k PPW most of the time now. That's a nice milestone.

#75 -- i'd say that is pretty impressive considering the age of the shary team. :D glad to see we are still climbing, too, albeit a little more slowly than before. still, we can't seem to consistently hit 10k -- we need more CPUs. i hope to have another 1.4ghz myself in a week or so, still working on it. :)

Dunno if this has been asked, but how's the new 4.0 folding thing? I haven't folded on my main rig (since its been in pieces) for like a week now, and now theres a 4.0 (last thing I saw was 3.something beta)

I use 4.00 console on all my folding rigs now... I heard/read there is no speed improvement from 4.00 to 3.24/3.25..Quote:

But if there is no speed improvement or loss.. Why not just upgrade to it. I did :)
I even did it while I was in the middle of a WU and it worked just fine. Finished off where 3.25 left off...
Well I just reformated so I stuck 4.0 on there anyway ;)
Honestly, I can't tell if its any slower or faster, but I got a 400, and I'm goin up 1 every 3 min, which is a bit faster then I used to...maybe these things aren't that bad for folding :)

hmmm.. Nope I dont get those.. Maybe if I had the -advmethods off I would.. But those take a few days?
But what I did was... I got this Tinker 2 days ago or so.. It was only 30 points and it would take my 2.4c @ 3.2Ghz about 24 hours to complete for 30.1 points...
I let it work the WU for a few hours... Then moved it to my P3 500 box and taken the 60 point WU from there and put that on my 2.4c..
Now that 30.10 point Tinker is going to take *checks* 58 hours left... And I moved it there like 2 days ago.. :)
Are you running two consoles on that 2.4c rig by using hyperthreading.Quote:

I have noticed that in some cases, it takes almost twice as long to do a tinker, compared to a gromac. I had some of those 30.1 tinkers on my rigs and it took 13 and a half hours to finish it, compared to 6 and a half hours it takes to do a 32 point gromac. BTW, one thing I like is that I only have two computers folding, but I`m producing in the yellow at EOC.:)Quote:

Its a misconception... It stats as 50% since the OS believes its a true SMP board... So even though it is showing 50% it is really using almost all of your processing power (minus a few percent)...Quote:

I prefer it that way.. For a few reason...
1. My system is more responsive with only one console run with HT enabled..
2. The benefits from using 2 consoles with HT is not that much... It adds a large time frame to complete the first console and the second console would take even longer!
I have played around with HT and 2 consoles for a few days...
Ohhh the [H] folding team is about to make the #1 spot over Australia...

I agree with Colossus. I only run 1 instance for the same reasons. With only one instance my computer almost always feels like folding isn't even running, and running two instances doesn't increase performance by much (I think it's RealBeast that calculated 15% on his HT rig(s), which is in line with normal HT gains).Quote:

Yup, with nothing else running, two instances on my HT machines run 12-15% faster than one at a time. I have to kill one console to do anything else other than web surfing though, because the machines are real sluggish with 2 running.
I added 3 more 2GHz P4s a couple days ago and they're starting to contribute better now that they got through the Tinkers that they all got to start. Tinkers take at least twice the time per point compared to Gromacs on my machines. Fortunately, right now I have none of them. :)
