Thanks for the response. I run the GUI on 2 machines, the third is a community machine in my lab at work, I can't hassle people to disable it whenever they want the machine so I went with the screensaver flavor there. Oh well, it still folds, just slowly.Quote:

Unfortunately, no thanks necessary here. This is a cause that I fiercely believe in due to the impact of a killer in my own family. In fact, and mods, edit if this is inappropriate, I would like to make a suggestion in folding preferences here. If it makes no difference as to whether or not people fold for Genome or FAH, please select FAH. My reasoning is that although genome research has its merits, ours is a money driven society. Big corps are funneling dollars left and right into this type of research in hopes of reaping financial rewards later. That's all fine and hopefully some good will come of it. Cancers with high incidence receive similar corporate attention. Meanwhile, statistically less significant cancers lack research money because with less incidence of these diseases there is less chance to profit from them. Yet they still kill. Donating pc cycles to a cause like this in no way makes up for the funding differences, but at least adds in a small degree to the resources available to these endeavors. It is too late for this, or anything, to help my mom, but there are plenty of others out there that may benefit in the future. There is my plea, again mods, if I am wrong in making the request, this is your forum not mine, please edit as needed.Quote:

Unfortunately, I just transplanted from the Tyson's area to *ahem* Manassas. My sister-in-law got in financial trouble so we bought her house here for a song. 1 1/2 years to go (and counting) before I can take profit legally and get back closer in. ;)Quote:

I noticed we have 355 active processors folding in the last 50 days. Wonder what that old 266mhz P2 collecting dust would do? I think I will pickup KVM switch tomorrow and add it in.

Thermo - as far as these VNC apps you're talking about - i remember you linked to one called TightVNC a while back somewhere, i downloaded it but never installed it or took a look at what it's about.Quote:

do you have to have it running (either as an app or a service) on each system you wish to connect to, and if so how does that affect CPU time, if any? also, does the system you wish to connect from run a different, "server" version of the software compared to the ones you're connecting to?
