It would be IMO, imposible to have in-team competition.Quote:

You have four computers going and a lot of us don`t, also the packets we download, come in all differant sizes and give differant points. How can we have in-team competition with so many differant varibles.Quote:

And I mean... if you look at it in that perspective, it's like saying there is no competition at all. Because all the teams are downloading different packets, using different sizes and different points, and all different volumes of computers working for them.
There is competition, but on the team level, against other teams. :)Quote:

Well a team competing against another team is identical in every way to me competing against you. Think about it:Quote:

Team X may have more computers than Sharky, may have more members than sharky, may have faster computers than sharky, may get smaller packet assignments than sharky, may get higher point packets than sharky. So you see, me competing against you actually includes LESS variables than team vs team so in a way, me competing against you or anyone else in the sharky team is more legit than team vs team competition. :)
If you are using one computer and running it the same amount of time as I do(I don`t run 24/7 it could be possible, I guess, but for it to be fair you would have to have started at the same time, with the same amount of computers running as the other person. :) Me, I am satified to contribute what I can too the team efford.Quote:

But the other teams started before us, and run different amounts of time, so is team-level competition no longer legit? ;) Also, I'm sure the other teams have a different amount of computers than us. :)Quote:

I give up, congrats on being in third place, good luck hope to see you in 1st place soon.:DQuote:

Why thank you. :)
I am starting to see the rise of a new whore... The FOLDING whore (yes I am coining that phrase right now)! :D Yes, that's right... For fellas with slow video cards and fast cpu's. :)
ROFL! w00t! Am I the first folding whore? :DQuote:

I was the first to start being blatantly competitive, lol.
Before you start the race, you need to pitstop thaqt PC, you have a problem. At least one of your systems is not stable. You are dropping units at a high rate, worse than Sapps was when his PSU dropped a regulator circut. Just from looking at it I would say that you are FUBARing 50 or 60 percent of them, but that would depend on the luck of the draw and what units you were getting.Quote:

Well all the computers running it are Prime95 stable at the speeds they're running it at, so I must just be getting a hell of a lot of the little units.Quote:

My main computer finished 7 units, I know that for a fact. And all of the other computers except one are almost as fast, and there are 7 of them. (That are almost as fast as mine). So if you really think about it... its not that unrealistic. (7x7=49, take into account the smaller units, and the fact that of the 7 my main computer has done, 3 of them were 2500's). That's not even taking into account the little P3 600MHz that's done 2 so far. :D
Either way, it doesn't really matter, my score isn't affected from messed up units.
Look at the units that the people close to you have turned in. Heck, you've turned in almost as many units as I have, but you have 25% of the score. Just a quick glance would suggest that three of your systems are not stable. A longer look would probably turn up one that was dropping units quite early in the process. Check your logs, it might be easy to fix. You are dropping more than you complete. And as Sapps has already posted, folding is a more difficult standard than Prime95. The whole idea here is to help with some research, and that requires reliable data.
My main computers log file is fine, and it's the most heavily overclocked.Quote:

I don't know enough about folding to be sure, but isn't it possible I just got bombarded with small units that arent worth a lot?
Nope, and you will score a lot higher with finished units. Most of my systems are old servers, very slow. But I never drop a unit, so I keep scoring well.Quote:

Well how can I tell by looking at my log file if I'm dropping units? It says "Sending Work to Server" at the end of each unit... I think.Quote:

Just look at how long it takes to fold a step then take the number of steps and you get a general idea of how long the unit should take. The system that completes it's unit in a reduced amount of time is the one dropping them.
Okay. Do all 500's take the same amount of time? (And 2500's same as other 2500's, etc.) Or can a 500 vary from another 500?Quote:

Right now I'm getting 1% done on a 500 every 4 minutes, pretty much exactly 4 minutes. So it should take me a little over 6 and a half hours for this one, right?
No; units vary, but 4 minutes a percent or 400 minutes for that unit is the number you want to watch.Quote:

So if they vary, it is possible that I got bombarded with small units, just not likely, correct?
No, you could get a string of low score units, but the score to unit ratio would still be close the the peeps near you on the team. The way the scores are set up, long units score higher than short units. I think that you are getting little or no score on some of yours. Looks to me like you could get a good score gain if you run this to ground and fix it. Saps just added a little vcore to his and it was stable again.
