Jaggies are very noticeable to me even in fast paced game of SC2. Can’t help you with your card troubles though, I haven’t touched an ATi card since my old XT800XT-PE. I can say that 108ºC is too hot for any card.

I don't think that your system should be struggling to perform. Contrary to Vertices opinion, I believe that this game is not very graphically intensive as my C2D/8800GTS system is running with settings on high without much of a problem. A new game that runs on high on a 4 year old system @ 1680x1050 isn't graphically intensive IMO. My i7 Macbook Pro runs buttery smooth with most settings on ultra @1920x1200. Not many games even a few years old perform well at those settings so I think your system is having issues. If I were you, I'd format and start fresh if reinstalling video drivers doesn't fix the issue.
The game can easily scale down. But fully scaled up with all eyecandy an AA and transparency AA, it can take a beefy system to do that with 60fps.
My video card idles at ~88c when just sitting at the desktop. Maybe it's just that my video card gets hot easy?
I think your card or cooling has a problem. If you have good air flow in your case, check the heatsink on the card and make sure it has good contact. Maybe clean it all out and put good thermal paste on there. Make sure the fan is working with good contact to the die. Other than that, I'd RMA the card.
So I skipped my last 20 practice matches and did my 5 placements. Won 3 out of 4. The last was a draw. Me as Terran vs. Protoss. We were basically stuck. He had nothing but a couple zealots and a warp prism left. Nothing else. I had 2 Command Centers and a couple dropships with SCVs. Nothing else. I'm floating in the sky and can't go anywhere cause he can follow with his warp prism. He can't hit me in the sky cause he has zealots. We were both like "What a silly game lol" I ended up giving the game to him because I felt 3 out of 5 would be a good placement record and he wanted the win.
So I ended up in Gold League at 100. Played my first Gold League game against a "slightly favored" Terran who was harassing the crap out of me with reapers for a bit. I end up wiping him with dropships and the standard MMM+T in his base. Which bumped me up to 62 from 100.
Not bad. Gold League is right in the middle so I guess that makes me average. :) Still working on getting my APM up. It usually averages 60-100 by the end of the game.
Won't really get to play again till Sunday. :(
I ordered some AS Ceramique yesterday. I'm going to put some of that on the card and use the stock HSF that came with the card and see how much it drops the temps. If that isn't enough, I'm going to get this fan and see if it does the trick. If not, I guess I'll have to pony up the dough for a GTX460 or 470. Will my CPU be a bottleneck for either of those cards?
Action packed Terran (Drewbie) vs Zerg (Idra) game 4 parts by HD.
IDRA RAGE!!!!!!

Idra can come off as a **** sometimes but it's hard to argue his zvt balance complaints when he's doing his crazy macroing through 10 bases to overcome drewbie's 4.
Me... I'd lose horribly to both no matter how many bases.
I hate terran so hard sometimes. Move army near base... omgwtf tanks killed them alls.
You can play when you not connected to the internet btw. My internet went out for a night and I played a bunch of the campaign. Good stuff.
I wanted to pop in on the video card overheating issue. I also have a 4850 and had some recent problems with it on this game. I did not use the bug fix that was posted, and instead I just upgraded my case fans since that sucker was getting seriously hot. I have not had any issues on Ultra since then. I may try the fix to see if that improves my temps overall.
I blew the dust out of the fan and heatsink on the video card with some canned air and my idle temps dropped from 88 to 81 and my graphics card doesn't go over 86 when I'm in game. I was amazed because it didn't seem like my video card was even that dusty, but it definitely made a difference. I also installed my old Soundblaster 2 ZS sound card. Maybe my mobo didn't like the onboard sound being used causing the video card to overheat? That doesn't sound very logical so I'm just going to assume blowing the dust off fixed it.
Also, I replaced the stock thermal compound on the GPU with some Arctic Silver Creamique and it has yet to change the temps any.
That may be what you did but I did not have to. I played my game under my account. According to others on this thread there would be no playing offline, correct? Rumors have been thrown away once again about this game, much like some of you said every game would be $60. Again, not true. Seems to me like there are just some haters around here.
I'm probably the only person here playing Starcraft 2 on a Mac, but I just thought I'd mention that the most recent OS and Starcraft updates fixed all of the performance issues that were plaguing the game. It's probably still not quite as good as on Windows, but I now get the performance I was expecting from day 1.
I'm running the game on an old Macbook Pro with a 2.2GHz C2D, 2GB RAM, and an nVidia 8600m. Before I was running it at 1440x900, lowest everything and it was choppy. Now it's smooth at the same resolution and medium setting.
Gameplay wise, I've been training my macro and multitasking. I'm still not a very good micro player, but I win over 2/3 of my games just by having more stuff than my opponent, and not losing track of what my base is doing while I'm in combat. Think I'll be in gold league soon. Of course I play T which is overpowered at the moment, but I'm sure the game will be balanced in due time.
If anyone here is in bronze, I'm pretty sure you can get out of there in a day or two just by figuring out how hotkeys work and constantly building workers until you have at least 50. Then all you need is one basic build order to follow that gets you some form of early defense (you can, and should, wing it from about 20 supply) and you're good.
The main problem I'm having now is being constantly matched up with gold, platinum, and diamond level players despite being on a bronze team with friends. I think the matching system goes for speed above all else, letting league compatibility slide. I hear if you crank out more than say 30 games it tends to get better, however, that is a lot of matches per team if you have multiple 3v3 and 4v4 teams as I do. I have about 5 friends that play this consistently so we tend to mix up our teams and play. I am still having fun, but it does suck to get stomped by players that are crazy better than you for 5 games in a row.
I win almost every game using Medivacs MM and Tanks. Scout them for rushes and other cheese, wall up, fly 3-4 Medivacs with MM and 2 tanks into their main mineral line. Profit.
You will at least hurt their economy badly. I also expand during this attack. Most will gg within 60 seconds of it landing.
If you can pull this off quickly without them seeing what's going on, you've pretty much got it made.
I also fly all around looking for expansions and drop on those. This tactic works pretty well, at least in the Gold league.
If it goes later than the first initial drop, I do bring in Ghosts against Protoss to deal with that lethal Psi Storm.
I also generally go Marines at first to deal with any Void Rays that may come over quickly. This can hurt me if they rush Stalkers but in that case I usually just grab whatever I got and drop right away in their mineral line while they are beating me up with Stalkers. Lift off your buildings and start moving away. They may wipe my base but I've wiped theirs as well and still have most of my buildings in the air and ready to regroup somewhere.
New patch will be released sometime next month. Looks like it should help the TvZ match up.
- Reducing the effectiveness of a "Zealot rush" when playing as/against the Protoss
- Reducing the effectiveness of Terran Reapers against the Zerg
- The power of the Terran Siege Tank will be reduced when in siege mode
- Terran Battlecruisers will be less powerful against ground units
- The Zerg Ultralisks have lost their "ram" attack, as it was proving in many instances to be less powerful than its regular attack.

Funny game with RL friends. They were talking so much smack. Obliterated quickly lol.

Hah! That's awesome.
This is the setup:
We are facing 3 Terran and 1 Zerg in a 4 v 4. We got two Terran and two Protoss.
My team did some really super good scouting early on and saw that the Terrans were going reaper rush so we quickly put out stalkers, which stopped the reapers from causing us much dmg. I think the reaper maybe killed 1-2 probes that much at all esp considering I destroy 2 reapers.
At this point we do some additional scouting and it is discovered that the Zerg player has no defense against DTs. So we opt to do a two prong attack, my goal is to knock out the zerg with a small force of DTs (I started with 3 and ended the attack with 5)
My team mates go hit one of the Terrans, I completely destory the Zerg he got owned so badly I destoryed his base my teammates destory his expansion he was done. I was then able to DT half of a terran army before they could respond. It's brutal when a small force of DTs destory your army.
We then got pushed back by the 3 players, however one of their players is essentially out for the count. The other terran player is seriously hurting, and all we lost was some units. So we fall back to macro up.
We decide to attack my army wasn't that big because I had spent some resources on teching up (and wasn't quite teched up) also an expansion which cost me 800 minierials got destoryed. So I had sent my army to rally up with my team mates and it got DESTORIED by a MMM ball. Granted I did talk half of the MMM ball however I was quick to recover (another expansion had just popped up)
We then proceed to completely own our enemy, we hit them hard when it's 4 v 1 you don't got a chance.
Now granted the enemy did do a really good move they had an excellent drop/with vikings on a team mate which almost completely ruined him.
This map had two of the floating island expansions, one terran player expanded to his, however he didn't last long I quickly responded by sending in an army of DTs in a drop ship.
At this point we noticed that the two remaining terran players had heavily foritied an Island with tons of turrets. Like my buddy sent in 4 carriers and they were gone in seconds...Scan showed them as having an even network of turrets all around their base. Essentially regradless of which hole you punched into this wall you were going loose any and all air units. Drop ships wouldn't work because they would get destoryed before they could even drop you'd have to send in like 10 drop ships and be lucky if 20% of their units landed.
So we basically needed a ship that was tough enough to withstand A TON OF DMG before dieing and also bring in a large ground force...In seconds. Mothership...
So we two protoss players made the mothership :) here's the problem though turrets would completely destory that mothership in seconds. In addition they did have a small force of BCs...So we build a small void/carrier fleet to go with our mothership so it would have time to recall.
Our carriers got knocked out in seconds (as we expected, in fact out of my 4 carriers only 1 actually launched any sort of attack the other 3 were destoried by the turrets my mothership BARELY GOT HER RECALL OFF.
However we had just warped in two fully maxed out protoss army units onto an Island, and the comments were like "wow nice" the other team thought it looked really cool.
How many times do you see 8-9 carriers, 5-6 void rays, and 2 motherships go down in SECONDS. And then you see a fully loaded protoss army on your island...It was epic.
