While the holiday sale lasts what would you guys suggest picking up for 1 to 5 bucks out of the games not on the daily deal list? I went through a list of them recently but nothing leaped out at me saying: "Buy me! I'm fun!"
I did pick up Universe Sandbox today.
SpaceChem is awesome. I played through to the fourth planet in one sitting. Can't wait to jump back in :D
Picked up a few games, I'm now up to 13 achievements (Thank you Vindir, taggart6, and lorddraco98!)
I gotta say, I love SPAZ (Space Pirates and Zombies). It is very very reminiscent of.... crap there was a small indie game which was nigh-identical to it years ago. I love it.
However, I'm now up to 4x 50% off Valve coupons, and 2x 33% off Valve coupons.
*Edit: Remembered it! Starscape by Moonpod games.
It is because only Valve items or coal are being handed out now.
rocket knight, cave story, bit trip runner, and super meat boy all look like really good budget games. i don't know if they're all under $5, but probably worth looking at. i got them all w/ the steam sale for dirt cheap though.
ugh... i already have a ton of games i don't play, i thought i could survive this steam sale like i did the thanksgiving one. i just calculated all game space requirement for my new games in queue for download and it's over 135 gigs :(
Before you craft your coal:

So we can keep the coal for next year? And lol coal is really quite appropriate now isn't it lol
Yeah, SPAZ is great, we talked about it a few pages back including the Starscape similarity. SPAZ makes Starscape completely obsolete IMO, though ,don't know why I'd ever go back to that.
Was just talking yesterday to a friend IRL that discovered SPAZ. He said he always blew it off because between the lame colorful logo and the title he figured it was just another dumb indie zombie cash in with OMG PIRATES added. Said if he had ever gone to the game's actual page instead of blowing it off on the storefront he would have bought it immediately months ago because the game's page makes it look great.
Going back to our page 96 conversation on whether Dungeon Siege 3 was worth $5, I'm currently 2 hours in and consider it worth it already. Don't think it will end up being all that amazing, but there are some cool ideas thus far that I don't regret stumbling upon. Admittedly a bit scant on powers and such (haven't gained anything new in the 2 hours except a defensive ability that I didn't have in the first second of the game) but I kind of like the stance switching and the combat picked up a bit in the last half hour.
Playing as the archon girl, and I still think she looks bad *** in archon form (as she did in all the marketing material). Enemies close a bit too quickly to make great use of her ranged attacks but the fire ring has been great thus far, and on the occasions that I have a melee partner fighting with me the range is awesome.
