I think I'll try taking off part of the case -- I don't use it often right now that I'm not travelling much.
Go to configuration, then advanced and try backing down on the CPU percent used. My OC'ed P4 run's about 4C cooler at 92% versus 96% settings.Quote:

that is a definite. 8 hours is quite a bit of time every single night. hopefully that works out well for you!Quote:

Well, I seem to have found the source of my WU decompress errors. I had tried removing the SSE tag from the startup shortcut awhile ago, to no avail. I went ahead and removed the -advmethods tag as well and just like that no more errors. I even re-enabled the -forceasm (SSE) tag and still no errors, at least on one machine. Not sure why the advmethods would cause a problem like that but it seems to solve the problem.
is there a way i can get my command prompt folding thing to run as a service or just on in the task bar, and can i get it to maybe only run at like 25% from some time, to another, and then full power from aonther time?
Do you think the heatsink is dusty maybe? My 2.6M gets hot when folding but it's never crashed. I've never opened my laptop but it shouldn't be too hard.Quote:

Edited: I have shut down my 1600+ computer for good, I have eliminated that the lockups and lost of WU`s were cause by the power supply, heat or memory. I give up, its not worth running it, just to complete one WU and lose two more one at 86% and another at 88%. This was running everything at stock speeds. Update, I`m giving it one more chance, hopefully this time it will act right.:(
can someone tell me why my p4 1.8 system gets something done in 10 minutes, and my tbird1.4 gets them done in 38 minutes, is my tbird just that bad? to be almost 4 times slower than my p4? or does it have something to do with me having 40 process? should i remove them to make it work fast?
a t-bird athlon is going to be a lot slower at folding, because they don't have SSE instructions, where as the p4 does....and SSE boosts folding speeds by A LOT....Quote:

man that sucks :( what about the XP's do they have the sse? i was goign to upgrade my chip anyway, do they have the sse?
I always thought SSE was strictly an Intel thing but AMD.com says Athlon XPs use it, so I guess I was just wrong...Quote:

How do Athlon XPs compare to P4 HT as far as folding?

as far as how an athlon XP compares to a p4 in folding...i don't know - you'll have to ask one of the guys who run a mix of amd and intel...i'm all amd over here
