ASUS GF2MX and 3DMARK2001
After seeing marginal performance from the V7100 on the 3DMark2001 benchmark tests, I was beginning to investigate some last ditch efforts to raise my score to a respectable 3000+, before I would start overclocking the Pentium3. Although I had been overclocking the card to it's near limit, the number barely ran above the 2300 mark. I eventually went back and eliminated the last of my TSR's until the only 2 ssenrials where left. I also cleaned up my start-up, wiped out my taskbar, wallpaper, disabled the Autoexec.bat and Config.sys, and went into the system registry to edit all run programs (along with backing them up). My startup time was reduced to just over 1min to the desktop being ready. The one downside is that now I get two separate beep warnings, one in regards to the memory manager not being found.
For starters i descided not to use the default option, as I never play games in 32bit colour, due to the fact I can barely tell the difference and have to take a performance hit. I eliminated anti-aliasing, put Cacheman in 3Dgame preset, set my GTU at fast and defragged my HD. (1+hour deleting ad files because i dumped temp files into a desktop folder, and overload crashed the recycle bin.) The defrag was finished next so I gave it a run.
3DMark2001 score at 1024x768 16bit: 3062 (200/195). Not bad, considering my default with the setup was 2830.

For a joke, I set the res at 640x480 16bit still oc'd and got a nice but irrelivant 3525 score.

These tests, while not remarkable, at least proved I could increase my score to a more respecable level all things considered. My final goal is to default at 3200 with the P3 untouched. I'm starting to get some ideas, but I wan't my comp to be functional, not just a benchmark tool. Seems to me too that you don't get higher points for screen detail settings, just points for FPS on default. Prove me otherwise...?

Well with my LEADTEK GF2 Pro 32 mb w/Blorb an o/c to 215c/415m i jump to 315x in 3d mark2001.Default test
My temps after 2 or 3 hours playing,testing etc

Hmmm, my best is around 2970 some.. Try as i may i can't seem to hit 3000. however, the other scores confirm what i have belived for quite some time. My CPU is what's holding me back. I have a Radeon 64 VIVO oc'd to 200/200 and a PIII 800eb. Someone with the same card at the same speed with an Athlon 1.2 had 3600. Now that I have Win2k i'm down to around 2600-2700. But all my games seem faster in win2k, so i don't care much about the lost points. https://www.sharkyforums.com/images/.../2005/06/6.gif
Also, I have noticed that my CPU seems to have gotten a little slower since I got it. When i first got it it was almost impossible to make Baldur's Gate 2 slow down, now it slows down a lot. Even right after formatting and reinstalling windows. When I first had the computer I had a Voodoo3, and now i have the Radeon, but it was slowing down even when i had the V3 and the Radeon is faster anyway, so i know that's not it. One of my fellow high tech friends agrees that he has seen several intel CPUs including PIII, Celeron and I think PII also slowing down after the time of purchase. Anyone else have anything to say about it?

well, considering that my comp can't run 3d2001, i'm just putting down my score for 3d2000. I think the highest i've ever gotten is 606 3dmarks! lol, that's not with the rig in my sig though. it's my old p 266mmx, 64ram and a voodoo 3 2000.
