good call on reviving this thread. now we just need to bump it enough that it's seen often (since we don't have a folding forum :mad: )

we definately need more folders, or some of the old folders should come back and support the team again.

we have the potential to be much larger than we currently are - there are nearly 35,000 users here at sharky, yet we have less than 300 folding members, and only a 1/4 of those 300 are even active. that equates to about 0.2% of the total sharky forum population. imagine our output if that number were to rise to, say 1% or more :eek:

plus, you're not just competing agaisnt other folding teams, your helping to find a cure for many diseases, including parkinson's, alzheimer's, various forms of cancer, huntingtons, ALS, and more.

furthermore, it's a terrific way to test stability of an overclocked system, does not interfere with normal usage of the computer, and, if you're in cold climates for the winter and have several computers running folding@home, it's a great way to heat your room (like me)...seriously

Hey guys been down for a while now going to try and get a few computer back up. Can someone post the settings they use for the console?
For AMD
For Intel
For hyper threading

I dont know if the settings would be the same as when I was folding before and it would be nice to have an update. The other thread is a tad long to search through.

Unless you're going to run two instances on a hyperthreaded CPU, you don't need anything special. They fixed the "bug" that used to choose 3DNow over SSE. Just install the client and fold away. Welcome back.

What about the advmethods seem to remember it was better to run something like that. Is that not the case anymore?

Installing the console asks all the questions and the defaults work well. For Hyper-Threading and two consoles, just make sure you use two seperate machine ID's, as in 1 and 2, as the default is 1 during the install. Each program must also be loaded and installed from it's seperate own folder.

it says ive completed 9 WU's and only have 1.15 points... the computers im running it on are stable, not overclocked or anything. whats u with that?

that's incredibly odd then. Are they all running really hot? Perhaps they're using sse and that's cauing some instability that would only show up during folding. Folding is known to be one of the harshest stability tests there is. Perhaps the memory timings are too tight? It's really hard to say as you're not overclocked and yet the wu's aren't finishing.

well right now i have 2 1 ghz thunderbirds 1 2000xp 1 600 p3 i think and 9 2.8 p4's running it. the p4's are only running 4-7 hours a day. but when i turn them on again i have to re download it because there frozen.

im home from school for about a month so i got the p4 2.8c at home going at it now. :D

my comp at school can't fold over the break because my dorm won't have the electricity turned on. It's out of commision anyway, vid card was overheating. I put on new thermal paste but I broke the clips taking the heatsink off. It also doesn't seat properly no matter how hard i press on it, only the edges contact the sink.....so i have an arctice cooling vga silencer on the way for it. Hopefully it fits properly, seems like the core on the card is raised around the sides and concave in the middle. Maybe it's just my stock heatsink that's not flat.

My Lord stole my sword and I lost my shield in the Field. So I will continue the fight with the dagger in hand!

I'm in. Just set it up on a Dell Precision 530 workstation, 2.0ghz Xeon, 1.5gb RAM. Workstation runs 24/7/365.

yeah, there are some WUs worth big points (241-320) now, but they take a long time. i know my 2 big rigs will spend a good day and a half on them, if not more.

so if i restart my pc i loose all my work? i was 2 days into a big 2500 frame one.

No, after at least every 30 minutes the program saves the work you have completed. There is an option in the configuration which allows you to to change the checkingpoint saving frequency from 30 minutes to 3 minutes.

So all work is saved! Fold away:|:D
