Sharky Forums Folding Team

I'm gonna keep folding, but I agree that we're kinda falling apart at the seams. Maybe folding is relatively un-painful for me since my primary rig has HT (I only run 1 instance) and my secondary doesnt get a lot of use (besides folding), but still...

I can understand Thermo not wanting to fiddle with the el-cheapo XP3000+ stack, or most of the big pissers not wanting to air-condition their farms under constant, full load during the summer. It would really be a shame to see the 1-or-2-rig people start jumping ship, though. Our team is on the verge of cracking the top 50, and we're showing signs of implosion.

Hopefully we're all getting carried away with this doomsday stuff and our team will either stay at in yellow or start growing again...time will tell.

hey hey hey, i get back in the game to try and reclaim #1 folder with only 1 cpu, and you guys are all dropping out for no apparant valid reason(with the exception of lonewolf). ***? Bunch of quitters....:mad: :mad:

Seriously, ***? Is you being bored with it the best excuse you have? I mean, you guys dropping are the heaviest hitters, we NEED you. Sorry, but that kinda irks me....:o :)

I'm not dropping, in fact I'm adding today hopefully. I'm just wondering what's going on with our leadership folders. Just kind of gone with no word.... I'm easily depressed:(

Saps has dropped off the radar. His Comcast account is not closed, but it's bouncing email with a strange message. And the web folder is locked. I hope everything is OK with him and his family. As for the other one, haven't heard much from him

These things are killing me. 3 of my fastest rigs are running Tinkers that are like 2 days each. My work P4 2.4 looks like its got 20 hour of a 52 hour run and my Gaming rig has a another 175 frames on a 400 5.5 minute per fram tinker. Just look at my score!

Come on guys, not everyone is quiting. We are still pushing 10,000+pts every 24hrs.

Also, the tinkers are preventing some domain activities from running, they refuse to shut down for backups and reboots. So I have been doing that by hand. I really don't have the time right now to baby sit these things.

okay, i'm sorry if you got mad at me, but the best reason i had so far for the heavy hitters quitting is being bored, i see you gave further explanation after my rant.

Now i know it's all your personal decision and you don't owe me squat, but i really didn't want to see our team get on the first page and then all kinds of names start to go grey/white and we slow down, like you see with other teams.

No hard feelings i hope. I wasn't trying to be harsh, hence the smilie, just trying to get my point across. It's just a bit frustrating.:)

It is a testing structure. It gives me domain services for my use and allows me to test deployments before I take them to the field. And it gives me a domain environment to testdrive new products under.

Unfortunately, my production sucks right now because I'm in the midst of a complex move, and most of my machines will be down intermittently for a few weeks. Once all is settled I should go red and stay there. :cool:

I'm not quitting but I think the tinkers are discouraging a lot of members. Normaly I'm at 12 - 1300 pts per week but allthough I added some extra MHz (again) I can stay barely above 1000 the last couple of weeks. Must have picked up at least 5 tinkers last week only. I've been folding for a while now (I have around 5000 pts for my former foldingteam as well) but this has never happened before. I just tell myself that tinkers will have to be done as well ;)
Luckely I'm not folding for the pts anymore. With seti I've sometimes wondered wether it was worth it but with proteinfolding that is not really a question. That's important because I would not be able to justify the powerusage for the 'race' only. First thing I hear, when I come back from work and open my front door, is the noise from the fans.
It's such a great excuse for leaving them all on 24 hours a day :D

About the production. When I joined it was relatively quiet but then XJ joined and about ten other relatively high production members followed. They are all in the top 30 right now. So what I'm trying to say is: it's been quiet before but there are a lot of members in this forum. Let's keep drawing their attention towards the folding team. We may see another productionwave. 2March you are right, as far as I can see it happens to all the folding teams, I mean show me one team where they have a 100% of their members folding, some will come and go, but most will stay. We are still a young team and are still growing.

i've returned to folding! i took an extended break because for the past month i've been gone from my apartment for 36 hours every 48. i don't like leaving my pc on for that long without being here to check on it now and then.. but now i'm here for the better part of each day so i'm folding again =)

I'm not quitting. I'll keep folding away. In fact I'll be adding some more shortly.:)

WooHooo! I just passed the 1k mark. Gee and it only took me a little over a month with my computer folding about 14 hours a day.

I'm at position 104 on the charts, and hoping to get in the top 100 within the month, but I've been bouncing around the 102-108 mark for tha past week or so, so I'm wondering if I'm at the end of my rope, and will be stuck just over hte 100 mark for eternity.

Oh well, c'est la vie.

I sent a complaint to Pande Group the other day about the value of Tinkers being way too low for how long they take. I just got a reply that they are aware of this and will fix this problem pretty soon.
