Looks like Washington wants to trade for Briggs -

Proposed trade involves Chicago giving up their pick in the 31st slot plus Briggs for Washington's 6th pick overall. I'm not sure who Chicago would pick if they went up to 6, though, as that seems a little too high of a pick for what's available at their need positions. None of the receivers other than Calvin Johnson seem worth a top 10 pick imo.

yea I saw that. That would be really interesting. I have no idea what they would be looking for with that #6. After the Super Bowl, a QB maybe? :p

How are people in Texas reacting to the Schaub thing? I would be nervous, but I guess it can't go anywhere but up right? (I know a bit about that)

Oh and also how pissed is everyone that you passed on Bush last year? My buddy and I were talking about that the other day. The day of the draft it was like "wow I hope they know what theyre doing", now its like "Yeeesh, thats going to haunt them". Nothing is written is stone yet, but the early results are sad.

I live in Dallas, where it's generally Cowboys or nothing, so I can't really help you. :D

Actually, it's odd that I see a lot more fans of teams outside of Texas here than I see fans of the Texans. Lot of Broncos and Dolphins fans here. Now that I try to think about it, I don't see many Texans fans at all, and nobody I talk sports with generally brings them up. They almost feel nonexistent to anyone I know except people actually from Houston.

Hmm yea, I wouldn't mind having 2 teams to choose from :p

Do they show both teams games every week?

Poor Texans, I don't know anything about them but sure do seem to share our fate.

LOL at Dan Snyder. Every chance he gets, he jumps all over the chance to overpay someone. I bet the Bears love this, since they weren't going to have Briggs in the lineup anyway.

It is hard to say a team that earned the #2 pick in the draft doesn't have needs at every position, but 98 catches is more than the Philadelphia's #2 through #5 receivers caught combined last year. What Detroit needs more is an offensive line that can block. And a QB who isn't so interception prone. And maybe some defense too. :D

Calvin Johnson is the can't miss prospect in this year's draft, much like Reggie Bush was last year. I can't fault any team for picking him, but he won't make Detroit appreciably better until they improve in other areas. I think they would be better served with a QB of the future(Quinn) or a tackle to anchor their O line(Thomas). They can get a serviceable 3rd WR in the third or fourth rounds, but the odds of finding a starting QB or OT diminish greatly later in the draft.

Remember, though, that Robert Gallery was considered the safest pick in the draft a few years ago, too. :D

I see your point. However, with all the additions the Lions have made to their offensive line in free agency and the fact that Jeff Backus is already making franchise money at left tackle I really dont think we should draft Thomas. You would then either put Thomas or Backus at right tackle and you would be WAY over paying your right tackle.

Kitna had a ton of interceptions last year, but I wouldn't say he is interception prone historically. It was more a result of a brand new system, desperation, a poor o-line, and often nobody open. Roy Williams is double teamed all game because there are no other real threats at WR. Furry caught 98 passes inpart because of this. There is no other threat to catch the ball. There is no one else with speed. Obviously this is a pass happy Martz offense, so there are going to be some nice passing stats. I'm not saying Kitna should be the long term plan at QB, but from what I've seen he will do well with an o-line and another option at WR.

This team needs to win. Bottom line. Otherwise we will go through yet another coaching, roster, and management overhaul. The player that will best help that cause at #2 is Calvin Johnson.

all of that changes when the Texans get into the playoffs and the Cowboys don't, Texans win SB and suddenly all of Texas has been a lifelong fan... the fact that they clutch onto outside teams confirms this.

Maybe I'll see a few more fans, but remember that I actually live IN Dallas. The T-shirt fan syndrome will affect other cities a lot more than it will us. Cowboys talk utterly dominates sports radio here year round, and there is a ton of it on even the non sports talk stations, while the Texans get basically no run at all. It's pretty crazy.

youre kind of lucky with that. Lions coverage is actually more than what you might think for such a terrible team, but its kinda few and far between in the off season. I dont know why exactly, but I will listen to sports radio and read articles all year long if its regarding the Lions. Imagine if I had a good team to root for!
